im taking my mum out for a luxury manicure and pedicure.
and then i booked a day out in a spa for her and me next week on her birthday!

I wished all the mothers on this site a happy mothers day and a few people seemed very confused. One even insisted it was in MAY!

Do you think the 4th of July and St Patrick's day are examples of the Alcohol companies trying to make a profit by promoting it. Or like Valentnes day is promoted by flower companies. You notice how there isn't any major groundhog companies and groundhog day is just another day? Whats your take?

From a Scottish viewpoint (mine at least) this is all about perpetuating the old Heather, Tartan, Bagpipes, Shortbread etc stereotypes of Scotland. I think people might be misguided enough to think that Scotland is still a quaint wee country stuck in the Victorian Ages. How much do the Americans in New York, or elsewhere actually know about Scotland, is there anyone who is willing to answer that question? Just curious why so many Yanks celebrate this. You are American & not Scottish, same with St Paddy's Day, you are American & not Irish.
