Agnostic here not trying to convert anyone.
I hear a lot of people in my life who say they believe in God. They base their believes primarily on a book, and from what I can tell is an expirience that I am not sure if it is God or a hallucanation.
People say they pray, yet if someone prays to the other guy's God it becomes a coincidence. One woman told me she prayed to Jesus and got a new car.
What causes this in people. What if that same woman were born in my home. And I taught her the gospel of the Flying Spaghetti Monster. If she had a hallocentic expirience would she attribute it to His Noodly Appendage. Would she pray to the Flying Spaghetti Monster and get a new car.
Is authentic belief in God or the Flying Spaghetti Monster possible?

I've been defending Christians saying I believe there are some wierdos but mainly it can be authentic. I have only read agnostics defend an authentic belief in a Flying Spaghetti Monster. Why?

Why do Christians not defend Pastafarians ever?

1994: A proposal to teach Israeli high school students about the murder of Roma by the Nazis draws loud protests, especially from Yad Vashem, Israel's national Holocaust memorial. Critics say the curriculum, titled "Sensitivity to Suffering in the World," would blur the uniqueness of the Holocaust.

While:

1933-1945: Up to 1,500,000 Sinti and Roma are killed in Europe by the Nazi regime and its puppet states. Determining the percentage or number of Roma who died in the Holocaust is not easy. Much of the Nazi documentation still remains to be analyzed, and many murders were not recorded, since they took place in the fields and forests where Roma were apprehended.

Say you are a Christian. You were born into a Christian family and you kind of took the fact that you were a Christian for granted. One day you decided that you want reallu look into the Bible so you could be a better Christian and be able to spread the word better. So you read the whole Bible. After finishing you say to yourself "Alot of things don't add up". Then you say that you don't believe anymore. You die and you were wrong so you go to Hell. Does it make sense that you were going to go to Heaven before but after reading scripture and searching for truth you become worse and go to Hell instead. In life it only makes sense that we are moving foward, not backwards. This same story could be applied for athiest or any other religions. I focused on Christianity becuase there the one with a Heaven and Hell. Another thing is why don't we just kill off all Christians before they change there mind? Then we would save them from damning themselves. You don't have to answer last question.

I am Apostolic, was raised in the Apostolic church, but lately I just feel like I dont belong there, and I do know from my friend that the Church of Christ is almost exact opposite in beliefs.

Has anyone been to both churches , and what do you think about each.

I haven't been to church much in the last month, and now everyone and their brother is calling me wondering where I am at.

I like the Apostolic church, dont get me wrong, just dont feel like I belong there anymore.

I am to the point now I dont know what to do. Stay where I am or find somthing new.

I went to a party at my job today. It was "employee appreciation day" and we had a little cookout. I work in a grocery store, the average worker only makes 7 or 8 an hour.
so anyway, the management thought it would be cool to give out door prizes. I was psyched about winning something -- until I got my prize. it was a $25 gift card to the MOST EXPENSIVE restaurant in town. I'm talking about a super-uppity place that sells calamari and roast duck. my husband and I went there and checked it out, and even with the gift card we can't afford it.
do you think it was tacky of management to give those out? what should I do with the gift card?

When you consider all the sperm and all the eggs that never formed you but could have done and all the sperm and egg cells that could have formed your ancestors all the way back to the beginning of life you are grotesquely lucky to be alive and not an entirely different person. You have on average 75 years in this universe what are you going to do with it? Are you going to use it wisely and try and learn more about the universe you live in, in order to try and make it better for people in the future, or are you going to waste it sitting in a corner talking to your self in the hope of something better after those 75 years are up which probably isn't real anyway? The choice is up to you, which will it be?

I know that there's no such thing as Hell or the boogie man but I just want to know what a religious person would say.

I was raised accepting that God existed and was good and whatnot, but even then I never bought into creationism or anything crazy like that. So around age 15 I realized that while I prayed every once in awhile and wanted to see loved ones again, it all just felt like empty gestures that would have been just as useful directed towards Merlin. So I decided that I'd be honest with myself and stop pretending to believe for heaven. So I was atheist for awhile but then learned about Siddhartha Gautama the Buddha in a history class and it was love at first sight. So now I'm an atheist/buddhist and act on what the Buddha said about never following anything you haven't seen evidence for yourself, and I've never seen anything worthwhile in God's favor, and also hold the buddhist belief that all gods and religion are wishful thinking and delusion.

Continued in details.
