You know, I have wondered this too.
Christians post stuff like,........
" The Bible is proof "

I don't understand why either.
I have never tried to offer proof, for that would be negating faith.
I would only post possibilities and let the person take it from there.

No I do not cheapen it by offering proof. My life has been one glorious ride and there is one reason. God.
My faith has carried me through thick and thin, health, sickness and prosperity.
I have learned that proving something can be fleeting at best.
However I have yet to chat with any Atheist on a common subject that the Atheist doesn't start using rude language to get their point across.
It is a matter of faith. I trust more and more. I have seen many people struggle and many others win.
If evidence or proof is the gift of life and it's prosperity then so be it.I have it in a Royal Flush.
Proof is not just in the written evidence provided, it comes from Faith and willing to hold that principle. You may not understand for this I grieve because it can be so easy for you.

God Bless

Offering "Proof" does not cheapen anyone. It only cheapens someone when he keeps insisting it is right because not all proof can be true specially in talking about faith. Truth in faith oftentimes are seen on thing we consider miracle until we find it to be tangibly explainable through science and technology or other facts.

I can't provide proof of anything except that it exists and thats as much as anyone else can see..the origin of anything in existance will always be left up for debate..that is what requires faith because the human mind is so willing to explain the miracle of life away to some abstract, obscure happen stance of accidental mutation rather than a loving, intelligent creator (super, awesome, unfathomable intelligence..do you ever watch Animal Planet? Holy platypus, Batman..He thought that up?) I read a book just recently by a guy by the name Grant R. Jeffrey called Creation: Remarkable Evidence...in it there were explaintions of such complex systems from the cosmic Nebula all the way back down to the so called "simple cell". Ain't nary a thing simple about any of it. So easily seen is the engineering feat..not to mention that all these complex systems rely, depend, assist and are utilized by each other. However, the biggest thing that got me from this book that is also perplexing "evolution" science is the real and true concept of irreducible complexity. There is much to be said about this but to put it mildly...it states that no system can be reduced down to even its simplest form and be left a useful and functioning entity able to survive. The eye for example. At what point in "evolution" did it become useful? At what point in evolution did the Dolphin DNA discover the echo potiential in sonar? Or the sunflower become able to tract the sun as it moves along its elyptic? Stuff like that. Its a little overwhelming when you think about it..but then again..God gave us the Sabbath to turn our attention back toward Creation..in doing so..we could acknowledge Him and all He is able to do then its like...well, whom shall I fear..If God is able to do all this then what the heck am I so freakin' worried about? Ya want proof? How's this grab ya...and this is just one...The Pepsis Wasp. Unlike most other wasps and insects, this wasp doesn't build a nest to incubate eggs. Using sensative sensors it walks along the desert floor until it locates a tarantula hole or tunnel. It attacks the much larger spider but even if bitten its immune and in turn stings the spider so that it doesn't die but is rendered imobile. It will only inject the venom in to upper left portion of the Tarantulas stomach..the most vulnerable region. Once paralized the wasp drags the spider into another hole it has prepared for this very purpose. It places the spider on its back, the spider still being alive, and injects an egg into its stomach. In a few days the egg will become a pepsis stage of wasp that will incubate inside the spider and then consume it for food using it for shelter and moisture until its developed enough into a full adult. Ewww...gross...Cool though. Now tell me though at what point the DNA of this particular species of insect begin to intruct the wasp to perpetuate this method of survival..developing the venom, digging the hole, developing the sensors to find and locate, tell it to find a locate a tarantula specifically and etc, etc...Whats cool also is the relationship the Water Lillie has with the water beetle, kangaroo gestational habits, owls, well the list..its endless and on that note...if you want proof of an intelligent creator...you just need to hit your local library and the earth science section. Have fun! Love in Christ, ~J~ <><

I don't know if you believe in God or not. However, offering believers or non believers "proof" does not cheapen a Christian's faith. In fact, it is our responsibility to spread the word of God! My bible says: "So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God." (Romans 10:17)
My belief is based on my faith in God and his holy word. Hearing the word of God convinced me to believe. My faith has been increased by my experience with Jesus.
I don't argue the word of God, but I'd rather someone asked me to prove something in the word of God than just accept my opinion as a believer.

Another good question is why do some feel the need to offer or attempt proof. If a person has chosen not to believe then you cannot change that only he or she can and only if they choose. It is obvious that those who have doubts must search and discover these things for themselves as telling someone really does not teach them anything. "Faith is a feathered thing with wings.." I have my faith in God and I live it.I believe that living ones faith is the best proof possible.

On this forum people ask for help. Witnesses to God's events, good deeds and miracles offer proof because God of Abraham, Isaac, Isaac, Jeshua and Prophet Mohammed is the only God that can offer not only proof, but history to confirm His prophecies and a land where specific spiritual battles have been won and lost as a living testament and witness for generations.

It's a good question. Sometimes, people ask for data. If it can be found, I think it's important to try to comply as much as possible if someone asks for it. People who need "proof" are usually scientific minds (don't get me wrong, I'm a Christian and a longtime student of the sciences. I think science is fascinating, and actually brings me closer to my God!) but they are people of facts, not of faith. For the purposes of discussion, one can not quote the scriptures and experiences that make up our faith as they do not believe our scriptures and they either reject our experiences as false or explain them away. In those cases, I think it's good to try to engage in discussion. Not to browbeat them, but to exchange ideas.

Now, when we think we have to get into "defending God" we're on the wrong track and undermining & cheapening our faith. It is then that we are truly missing the point!

I do not consider it to be cheap, if I can provide someone with a better understanding of what they are seeking. Isn't that what they do in a church, show you the scriptures, Jesus only talked in riddles, because He didn't want to say who He was, He wanted the Jews to accept Him on faith. The Jews have been learning about Jesus forever, and they walked with God. God was more prominent with His people, before Christ came into world. How can you teach someone something if you don't show them. If you consider it cheap then I am sorry, but I will not apologize for spreading the words of Jesus to you or any one else. I only serve Him to the best of my ability.

That would be because its the 2006 and we've grown as a people both mentally and intellectually. And as we continue to do so we start to see the cracks and flaws in "religion" and seek reassurance that we are not blindly following something that we have out grown. That doesn't mean that we have turned away from "God", far from it. In fact in means we have a greater understanding as to the nature of God and seek claification and affirmation of those same understandings. But organised religion, the happy are those who have not seen and yet believe. the have blind faith days ....... they are all numbered because people are simply more intelligent and question themselves and everything around them.

I am not! We are just explaining the meaning of Faith! Where it says, “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.”

Is that cheap?
