I am looking for some information on Vietnamese Catholic home altars including Holy Family altars, Marian altars, patron saint altars, and ancestor altars. What is the significance of the altars and the statues, holy cards, and other blessed objects that adorn them? What are some of the more popular saints, and other items (incense, rosaries, holy water, food, fruit) located on the altars? Are certain devotional practices held in the home with the altars as a focal point? Where are the altars located in the home and what happens to blessed objects when they are broken, old or worn-- are they thrown away? Are the altars used in Tet celebrations? If any members of your congregation religious or lay could help it would be very much appreciated.

My mom and grandparents would always tape a penny to the box of a pocket knife or set of steak knives that I received over the years. Mom said the penny protected from the possibility of cutting off the relationship. Did she make that up?

so: at the begining there were the four elements life is composed of, in different quantities, of course: fire, air, water and earth. then they split ,fire remained as it was, oddly, air split into wind, lightning, and storm which combined the both, earth remained and water split into water and ice... then, a human tried to replicate these elements in an equal way and made another element: life, so, our human died as all humans, and left behind his little element, it split as well: light, darkness, star, heart and void.

when these elements found a master, a mere human, they combined with the human giving him power over that element, i... am fire.... and i know all the others, for this is my 102nd life, so what do you think, i'll soon write afew books about everything that happened, even though it may take time, i have no time, for my time is infinite, and infinity dose not exist, so my time is inexistent, do you belive me?

i think there would have been less war in this world without religion as most wars were about religion and people would have had more control over their lives and more ... but something tells me i should beleive... beleive in something i / we have absolutely no hard evidence to fully proove we have a creator or heaven.... in essence god.... jesus was said to turn stones into birds and make the blind see to show us somekind of evidence then, it is my oppinion that that time was wrong timing and it should have been the year 2000 now would have been the right time to show us god is there to be beleived in.
