I have to agree with trustautostop. Do you know that the church did not always consider abortion wrong? They've been back and forth on the issue for a very long time [centuries]. Also notice that it's usually men that are trying to make these decisions for women through out history? At 6 weeks, can the foetus survive outside the mother's body? No; not even on life support. It can't even have coherent thought and just reacts to its environment. If you or your daughter were/ was raped or sexually abused by a relative or even a pedophile or some sexual predator and got pregnant as a result, would u really want [her] to carry that child to term? Is it right that a daughter have her father's child? I think there are times when abortion is necessary and most people I know don't use it as a form of contraception as is being purported. It is a woman's body and her right to decide what happens to it.
And as far as marriage goes, it's between a man and a woman. Any other unions should be recognized civilly and the happy couple should be entitled to any and everything married people are accorded. Why do we need to mock sanctity of marriage?

There's nothing wrong with abortion early on. Personhood emerges over time, it isn't a black and white distinction.
A fertilized egg is certainly not a person in my mind, yet a new born baby is. Where does the threshold of sufficient personhood get crossed? There's no definitive answer, which is why the decision should rest in the hands of the mother.
I don't care how you define marriage, but from a legal perspective, there's no secularly valid reason to prohibit civil marriage between any people that want to marry (including more than 2, mixed or same sex, hermaphrodites, etc), as long as all involved are consenting adults. Civil marriage entails automatic rights of survivorship that can not be obtained any other way.

marriage is a legal joining of people and therefore can have any definition society chooses to give it. If a church chooses to make their definition of marriage only between a man and woman then i see no problem at all with that since they should be allowed to refuse to marry anyone in their church if they don't meet that definition. Others can be married outside the church if society chooses to define it that way.
Abortion is more difficult however unfortunatly it comes down to this......since 1972 about a million abortions have been performed which means about 1 million more people would be in the world today and they would be having children....take a look at the econmony and the infrastucture of our nation and figure out what we are going to do with these people? Are there enough jobs? no? can we feed the people we already have? no .....can we afford as a society to pay to care for unwanted abandoned children no? ....it's a social problem that needs to be addressed
If christians would worry about the economy getting better and pressure politicians like Bush to do things to try to make it better than peoples lives would improve and the number or abortions would drop because people would be better prepared to take care of a child and be in a better place themselves.....its all connected yet all i see is people pointing fingers

I wouldn't have an abortion, but I believe in a woman's right to choose. I support marriage as a sacred union between any two consenting adults, regardless of sex, who love each other and wish to make a lifetime commitment to each other. Look at what us heterosexuals have done to the 'sacred union'. Maybe they can get it right, because lord knows WE can't!!!
Interesting fact: BAPTISTS have the highest divorce rate in the US of any Christian denomination and are more likely to get a divorce than agnostics or atheists. There's some food for thought.
Barna Research Group interviewed 3,854 adults from the 48 continental
states, with a margin of error of plus or minus 2 percent. The survey
found that while just 11 percent of the adult population is currently
divorced, 25 percent of all adults have experienced at least one divorce,
the survey showed.
Twenty seven percent of those describing themselves as born-again
Christians are currently or have previously been divorced, compared to 24
percent among other adults.
"While it may be alarming to discover that born-again Christians are more
likely than others to experience a divorce, that pattern has been in
place for quite some time," said George Barna, president of Barna
Research Group.

I believe abortion is wrong and I believe that marriage is defined as the union of one man and one woman making a vow before God.

The judgment of the right or wrongness is in the hands of the mother. Only she can make that call. To attempt to wrangle that decision away from her, or make her feel bad about her judgment is morally wrong. To pull reality into something unreal (the decision of her abortion rests on our shoulders bah!) is insane and against human flourishing.
Instead address why a woman would feel confused the way she does. I'll tell you why; Teachings full of contradictions pertaining to what is right and wrong, specifically and only by religious cults. of

people have to stop inserting their religious beliefs into politics. It shouldn't matter to anyone if two people who love each other get the same rights as man and woman in marriage.
Abortion is a very personal choice and should be left to the womal herself who is in that situation.
People need to stop judging other people based on their own religious beliefs because not everyone shares those beliefs.

Yes I do think abortion is wrong because the baby can feel during abortion as little by little the body is being riped apart
From six weeks the baby has sensation around its face and mouth. At seven weeks the baby can feel a needle stick and draw back. Even at that time if you put a little probe or instrument in the baby's hand it will curl up its hand around it, so it feels things

Abortion is only wrong when used as a constant birth control. Marriage between two people is fine. I do not care if it is the same or different sex. Freedom of choice and the pursuit of happiness.

Abortion is wrong. Name another time when killing an innocent is okay, should we kill the hostage in a bank robbery? I agree, marriage is sacred, and I hope a law is passed defining it as a union between man and woman.
