i think there would have been less war in this world without religion as most wars were about religion and people would have had more control over their lives and more ... but something tells me i should beleive... beleive in something i / we have absolutely no hard evidence to fully proove we have a creator or heaven.... in essence god.... jesus was said to turn stones into birds and make the blind see to show us somekind of evidence then, it is my oppinion that that time was wrong timing and it should have been the year 2000 now would have been the right time to show us god is there to be beleived in.

now you should beleive more than ever. If you look at the book of Revalations, the reason you are so discouraged is becuase things in the book are coming to pass.

It's not the religion, it's people's continued failure to learn the truth behind religious teaching and/or carry it out in everyday life.

Historical fact dictates that the most wars have been fought for economic reasons first, territorial reasons second, religion.third. The reason wars over religion get so much notoriety is because, historically, the bloodiest wars are the ones fought over religion.

Again, this does not mean religion is a bad thing. It only means people are bad at following their religion's doctrine.

Truth is, God grants us complete free will. We are free to embrace religion, or walk away; no mind control involved.

You are troubled by a lack of evidence proving what? God? Perhaps because he knows, as all open minds do, that "for those who believe no explanation is necessary. For those who do not, no explanation would suffice." I have no idea who coined that phrase, but it is right on.

'Faith', by definition, requires no physical evidence. You might be puzzled as to why some people claim faith itself is proof that God exists. Have you encoutered this from anyone? Do you understand it?

Faith is a gift from God. You either have it or you don't. You do have it because you feel compelled to look for answers to questions - that only God can answer.

You sound like the type that only believes what they see. "Blessed are they that have not seen but they still believe", says Jesus. When it comes to faith, you have to see first - then you will believe.

If God did not exist, no one - not one single human being - would have faith in anything supernatural. It is because God created us, we instinctly look to Him whether we even realize we're doing it or not.

The question of whether or not God exists has been answered. The vast, vast, majority of the human race believe in a deity or supernatural entity of some kind. The only remaining question is, 'which one is the right god?'

Jesus's presence on Earth 2,000 years ago was the fulfillment of the Old Testament and the revealing of the Fullness of the Truth.

It's our lot to attempt an honest understanding of that Truth, and live it day to day.

You believe the atom exists. Why? You've never seen one for yourself, but you know they exist on the faith that science has it right. You've haven't seen the vast majority of stars, planets, comets, and galazies out there - but you know they exist on the word of science.

See? You have the ability to believe in more than merely what you see. God is the same Way. He is there. He is sending you proof of His existence. Why is it you refuse to to take God on faith when you take so many other things in life on faith as well?

"i think there would have been less war in this world without religion"

oh no, see, there ya go using your brain. god doesnt want you to do that. that's the devil
=P
no, i dont think you should believe in god, bud. but you certainly can if it gives you the purpose you need to live a productive life. i would never tell someone to not believe something. i mean come on, we're all humans with individual consciousness. who am i to tell you how to percieve yer world?

lets say though, that the FACTS did point that there was no god, and never could be a god, k? what does that change? nothing. we're still alive, we're still as conscious as were the minute before we understood this fact and i'm still going to pee and poo the same way. nothing changes. i love my life and i love the path i took away from theism becuase it's given me a unique perspective on psychology and the process of human experience. i certainly am glad i experienced what i experienced and i help people who are questioning their faith fight through the 'guilt' of questioning god. it's all psychological. i'd suggest checking out my blog for more detail. people who dont believe in god and that dont troll forums and stuff will generally carebecause we understand that life is so precious.. and wasting it on imaginary things completely devalues our wonderful existence!
=)

The answer to that question will not help you. If He came now instead of 2000 years ago-someone in another 2000 years could ask the same question. Whats important is what 'YOU' believe now. You are the only person who can be held accoountable.

People fight wars in the name of religion to try and justify what they are doing.

You sound serious about knowing God, so I will give you 2 suggestions.

1) Have you asked God to reveal Himself to you, to fill you with His presences. I have heard of this working for a number of people. You do not need to use any special words, just talk to Jesus, and tell Him how you feel and what you need (His spirit). Do it with emotion and sincerity.

2) If number 1 does not work, look up a number of churches in the phone book, and go to them. If you want you can tell them why you have come and ask them to pray for you. I would suggest you go to any Pentecostal or Apostolic churches first (they usually are more receptive to the Holy Ghost). If they do not take your search seriously, just try another church.
(FYI - usually these churches have a lively services with lifting up hands, shouting, etc.. just so you will be prepared.)

God be with you in your search for Him.

let's say you dont believe in God and you die and oops! guess what there is a God.....you lived a good life but you never believed so off to hell you go.
ok now lets say you do believe in God and you die....you lived a good life and asked Him into your heart...welcome to heaven
what i am trying to say is what do you lose by believing...i would rather believe and be safe than not believe and risk everything when I aint losing anything here on earth by believing either way, but you risk much afterward if there is a God

just b/c you are disappointed in humans doesn't mean you can be disappointed in God. make the choice to believe in Him, and you will be blessed. everything happens for a reason. God loves you!

I think it's obvious that someone created me, trees, flowers, grass, birds, bugs, animals, etc. Everything is so intricately designed. I believe God created everything.

Belief is no substitute for knowledge. Religion is for the weak minded.
