I want to teach Anthropology in college one day, can I just major in Anthropology or must I have firsthand experience in going to other countries and learning their cultures firsthand?

I am interested in the study of cultures. For example: I think that it is highly interesting that people in quebec speak french or that the history of places like kazakhstan and persia were similar to india. I have romantic images of medieval france and 19th century Havana or Buenos Airies. Those cultures would be very weird and interesting to study. What is this science or social science called? I want to explore it.
Thanks

Some 30 years ago I, Electrical Engineer with grad degrees in Comp Sci, worked with a group of Biologists, Archeologists, Paleontoligists, Geologists & MDs on a project. We'd meet at a local tavern on Friday after work & discuss subjects of interest..
One of these was when the grey wolf began the association with homo-sapien & if it was also associated with Neanderthal or Homo Erectus. Because the Grey Wolf is not found in Africa, we decided the association began in the Mid East & spread through out the World from there. This would put the association at about 50,000 yrs ago. The idea that the grey wolf/human association appeared among differing groups about 12-15,000 yrs ago was rejected as improbable statistically. However, all the current anthropology links I find tend to trumpet the more recent date. We rejected the Neanderthal association due to lack of supporting evidence, but the Wolf would have been the perfect hunting companion for a pure carnivore. Any links...

People from Africa have black skin, and people from Europe have fair skin

Science: The colour "Black" aborbs the heat, and "white" reflects heat.
==
so you would expect Africans to have white skin, and the Europeans to have dark skin.
If Europeans had dark skin, then they could aborb the heat more easily.
And if Aficans had white skin they would not absorb the heat so easily.
I am looking for scientific references, or logical reasons why the skin colour is black for Africans.
No rascist bigotry please.
Thanks

I was just thinking the other day, that for all that the human race has come a long way and is inventing things that it could never have invented even 200 years ago, how many of us would be able to start a fire from scratch? (one of the best inventions that our "crude"ancestors made).

I would very much like to know how to do this and the scientific proccess behind it.

This is not a racist attempt to discredit Africans as it may appear. Read:

~37,000 yrs ago a gene (determined to be ~1.1 million yrs old) suddenly appeared in homosapiens, a species ~ 200 K yrs old, in the Mid East. This gene spread to 70% of the World's population, but not to sub Saharan Africa... probably because the migration paths were to Asia & Europe. Due to the very high positive selection of this gene, one must suspect it confered a large advantage to those born with this gene. Some, such as I, suspect it reduced the mother/infant mortality rate. Yet another gene (CPHM) was discovered by the same research team (led by Bruce Lahn, U of Chicago) & 85% of Europeans have this gene that also appeared in the Mid East some 5,800 yrs ago.
British data on African mothers indicate African women (giving birth the 1st time) are 40% more likely to undergo C sections.

what do you think about our ancestors? which ones were? do you think that the difference between science and religion is that the first explains HOW it happened and the second explains by WHOM?

I mean, let's put aside whether or not you believe in evolution; if you take biology 101 or just read a layman's explanation, it should become clear that in no way is it ever insinuated that humans evolved from the other primates in existence today. Why is this such a common fallacy?
