In fact, does being a human being give you some sense of pride or sense of spiritual superiority? Are all people equal whether or not they are apes? I am so full of these questions, why?

Yes physically, I should be categorized with the great apes. They are our closest relatives and we descended from a common ancestor that would be considered an ape. There may be something special to humans. We are certainly much smarter. I don't, however, know anything about the mind or soul of an ape. It is impossible for me to judge them as mindless creatures without a soul. All I know is that we are essentially physically, at least, very smart apes.

Yes, lad, call yourself whatever you want, but there exist three: vegetable, mineral, and animal. We are not either of the first two: we are animals and share with apes and a couple of other critters the primate family. We are not 'apes,' which evolved as we did, from a common ancestor. Good folks who scream that they weren't descended from monkeys are correct--that's another family of critters. Nor are we 'descended from' modern apes. Give a look at a modern summary of Darwin's "On the Origin of Species" on Google. And the best always to you, you monkey, you!

No I am not an ape.

I am a unique, special individual person, inside a weak human body.

One day we will transcend our human bodies and reach our full potential. Until then we just have to make do with what we have got and enjoy life, and learn new things until we can grow and develop into what we will eventually become.

We are of course "some sort of ape" according to every reasonable and scientific application of the term. One has but to watch non-human apes in action to realize this.

We are obviously primates... one of the Great Apes... Gorrilas, Chimps, Orangutans, and Humans... That's a cool group to belong to...

----
And I have spoken to many priests (christians and others) to monks, and reverands, etc.... and none of them have anything intelligent to say. They make up alot of stuff... but nothing credible...

I am an ape. According to my wife I'm a big drunken ape with absolutely no redeeming qualities.

Yup - the only thing that makes us human is our ability to articulate our monkey-ness. We are primates, although not apes per se.

No, I don't consider myself some type of ape. Do I think we have common ancestors? Yes.

I don't feel "superior" but nor do I consider myself some form of ape. We have similarities but many, many differences.
Not just communication; abstract thought, the ability to predict, worry about the future etc.
Animals are animals and humans are humans. We have animal characteristics, yes, but we are different.
