The recent discovery of 2 human genes that affect brain development (origions appear to be in the ME about 37,000 & 6000 yrs ago) are absent in West Africa & it has been suggested that the heavy positive selection for these genes shows they contribute some large advantage to the people in Asia & Europe that have one or both of these genes. I am looking for information on births among West Africans to determine if either of these genes is responsible for either low birth weights or mortality rates among mothers.
Regardless of what these genes do... they do offer some advantage to those that inherit them, but what advantage is still open to debate & must be researched.

the teaching of evolution has been opposed in US in many public schools, mainly fuelled by protestant fundamentalism...this voice has been joined by Adnan Oktar of turkey, with his latest book, Atlas Of Creation, refuting the evolution theory by charles darwin...calling it a feeble and perverted ideology contradicted by the koran(religious book of islam)...

Earlier also few scientists have questioned darwin's theory examplifying the fact that darwin wasnt aware of the facts of genes,etc..

well friends i wanted to know ur take on all this...

we can't figure out where we evolved from. The answer seems to be above our ability to answer. If it is above us then "what is above us:. Obviously there is some intelligence we do not understand. Saying it just happened is not acceptable to me. Do you accept "it just happened""just because".

Have you educated anthropologists ever read the first 5 chapters of Genesis from the anthropologist point of view. Shame on you if you havn't. You are not being true to your beliefs. Genesis anthroplology is very interesting. Did you read genesis from the repoint of view. If so, you have fallen for the oldest trap ever conceived. I thought you were smarter than that.

If homo sapiens popped up all of the sudden about 10,000 years ago give or take....why did only 5 civilizations pop up through out the world around the same time, when the rest of the world stay as hunter gatherers. If Darwinism and survival of the fittest is correct then why didn't the whole world evolve at the same time to this cultural state of advancement? I do say cultural but at the same time higher states of intellect must be in place to conceptualize these cultures..It's a contradiction to say that we evolved from evolution but only a small fraction of the whole world evolved intellectually right after that to build great ancient agricultural civilizations when the rest of the world was still hunting and gathering like their ancestors.

..if human race is constantly evolving, in theory, perfecting and adapting itself to the environment, which is also changing. We assume here that the human race has not blasted itself into extinction , that a meteorite has not blown up Earth and that aliens have not eaten us yet.

Today I saw a tramp with a huge beard doing air guitar in the street and there was this guy on the bus who was dressed all in black, bald, with headphones and glasses, and in each hand a bottle of Mr Muscle detergent spray. He looked like some kind of surreal futuristic action-hero lol!

I've recently started reading a book called "Darwin's Children", which is about how years from now, children start being born with a "virus" that gives them higher abilities. People consider it the next stage of evolution, and naturally people are afraid of these kids, consider them mutants, etc.

If one year everything seemed to change and kids started being born with abilities that gave them "psychic powers", made them faster than the rest of us, smarter, etc, what do you think would happen? Do you think paranoia would ensue? Would people be terrified of them as they are of the mutants in X-Men? Lol! I think people might harbor prejudices against them as we do people of different cultures, races, etc, nowadays, because they are so different than us. It's an interesting question.

It also reminds me of the "Indigo Children" phenomenon that I read about a couple of years ago while researching a paper on alternative spirituality. Supposedly they are "Children of the New Earth"...?

I am living here in America. If not for something important to tackle here, I wouldn't behere for long . I want to go home to my own country. Not only I feel alienated and discriminated here, but I encountered the rudest people on earth which are the Americans. And I keep wondering their media is so infused with character building like courtesy and respect and still the American populace don't get it. Are they stupid not to understand it? Or just too stubborn? Or just naturally and inherently rude?
If ever they give someone a courtesy or respect, they do it with so much hypocrisy and fakeness. I encountered a lot of miserable experiences here in the US which involved Americans being so nasty, arrogant, proud, rude but hypocritical and fake. At the firs encounter, you would tthink they are nice and then when something upsets or bothers them or you can't give in to their demands, they try so hard to be polite but it comes out fake and in the end, it comes out really rude. Why?

Isn't it tainted by the fact that it stems from the European age of exploration and compares all other societies to the European model? For example is it likely African based anthropologists to study European society and be published their findings in a scientific journal?

I find it hard to accept that one could be so unhappy and thus leads to unfriendliness. Other than constant financial problems, relationships etc, I'm wondering is it because it's caused by the way they are being brought or by the media always making news that strike fear into people...If theres a reason, I'm thinking if theres a solution
