I was living in Clarksville, TN around the military base at Ft. Cambpell, after I got out of the Army. I was getting paid at $5.75 an hour, and then I went to live in another city a little bigger and was getting paid $9.70 an hour. The apartment prices and costs of products were actually about the same. Now, I met a friend who lives in a even bigger city than the city I lived in. I noticed that the costs of living is the same. The pay rate raises even higher though. It seems to me the bigger the city you live in the easier it is to make it. I always thought this was the opposite. What do you think? Anyone ever lived in a small city then to bigger city and notice the change or from bigger city to a much small city. Like example, Clarksville, Tennessee to Chicago, Illinois or Jackson, Mississippi to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. A huge difference of city location and way of life?

(This question is being asked in more than one relevant section, to enable more people to consider it.)

I'd set the machine for 50 years in the future, in hopes of finding that the USA again had a fair-minded, sensible and egalitarian U.S. Supreme Court -- the way it was BEFORE "President" Bush **destroyed** it -- which was at last systematically RESTORING personal liberties to Americans.

If that weren't the case yet, I'd set the machine to take me farther ahead, in 10-year increments, until I found a time when that were true... OR the USA had become an unthinkable tyranny (traceable back to Bush's unspeakable mistakes).

If THAT were the outcome, I'd set it for 1974 -- the year after the Emancipation of American girls and women (via Roe vs. Wade), and the year that Nixon resigned... and then RE-live the GOOD years: 1975-2000.

Considering **NO other variables**, would YOU take that journey if you could? And for those reasons?

for some reason i am just very discontent with my current situation in life, what i used to find enjoyable simply isnt enough anymore. no matter what i am doing i feel like i should be making and doing more in life.

i desire to have to overcome something, to have a quest to give my life some sort of meaning. i realize that isnt the real world but for some reason i feel imprisoned by my human body.

I dreamed that I had a baby boy and that he was very pretty (I remember he had big brown eyes, mine are green if you want to know). And in that dream I didn't know who was the father of my baby, because I had amnesia (!). And that I wanted to choose a beautiful name for that baby.... What could it mean???

And now, after I had such dream, I want to have a baby ;D (I'm single though, and WAY too young to have a baby now)

Well, I can't forget this dream, so maybe you know the meaning of it?
Thanks in advance!

Sometimes, when I dream, I dream about something that hasn't happened yet. There was this one dream where I was with some friends.

We were in school just talking and fooling around like we always do when one of my good friends said something weird. It struck me right then that I had experienced that moment before, only I couldn't remember when.

I know it happened, so thats when I realized it had happened in my dream. It was really freaky. How can this be true? Do you think I maybe thought of something similar to the situation and confused them?

I could have sworn it had happened before! Can someone help me?

Is it possible that the dialogue between sexes has to be reduced to "Me Tarzan, you Jane"....?????

I think it's possible people have gotten adjusted to much adrenilin rushing through them, multi-tasking, attention pulled in several directions at once, all of that. For a baby-boomer, the non-stop intensity can be fairly literally overwhelming. Are we evolving into the sorts that can cope with instantaneous decision-making necessary to cope with space travel, robots with nano-second timing, all of that? Or perhaps some are evolving with that intensity, while others are retreating into the quiet of meditation, intentionally slower pace.

Once you accept that we are changing, what changes do you see? (Creationists, don't bother. This is not a question for you.)

This is one of the questions exposed by Pierre Bourdieu( 2001) in his book: "Masculine Domination".

More explanation about the book:

Bourdieu analyses masculine domination as a paradigmatic form of symbolic violence - the kind of gentle, invisible, pervasive violence which is exercised through cognition and misrecognition, knowledge and sentiment, often with the unwitting consent of the dominated. According to Bordieu, to understand this form of domination we must analyse both its invariant features and the historical work of dehistoricization through which social institutions - family, school, church, state - eternalize the arbitrary at the root of men's power. This analysis leads directly to the political question: can we neutralize the mechanisms through which history is continuously turned into nature, thereby freeing the forces of change and accelerating the incipient transformations of the relations between the sexes?

Has anyone read it?

Thoughts?

I had a dream that I was dead and flying up to heaven through the sky. Only midway, I had the choice to go up to heaven and leave everything behind or continue living my life as usual. I chose to keep on living and I woke up from my dream. When I opened my eyes everything was blue and then Jesus appeared next to me kneeling down and had his hand over my forehead. He was smiling and saying something, only I couldn't understand what. Then when he left I could see normal again. I wasn't sure if I was awake or if I was still dreaming. I think maybe I woke up in my dream but not in real life. Can anyone tell me what it may mean?
