I'm not certain of the answer, but...:
There is a negatively charged object lying on the ground. A neutral metal ball rolls toward this object and stops (i.e. due to friction) some distance away from the ball and does not touch it (implies induction, separation of charge.) A second neutral metal ball then hits the first ball on the back of the ball, i.e. on the side away from the negatively charged object, and transfers its momentum onto the middle ball, and stops. The middle ball then rolls toward the negatively charged object and stops (due once again to friction).
What is the net charge (+ or -?) at the end of all of this for each of the two metal balls?

My reasoning is: b/c of separation of charges, there are electrons concentrated at the back end of the first ball. Then, by conduction, electrons flow into the second neutrally-charged ball. The second ball thus acquires a negative charge, and the first a positive charge. But it seems mroe complicated than that...

A squirrel jumps from one branch to another on 3 meters away at the same height. If hhe jumps at an angle of 20 degrees what minimum speed must he have in order to make the jump?

A baseball is thrown vertically upward with a speed of 25 m/s from a height of 2 meters. How long does it take it to reach its heighest point? How long does it take the ball to hit the ground after it reaches its highest point?

A friend and I were talking about relativistic time dialation, and the question was asked: If you're travelling to Alpha Centauri and it takes you 4.5 years to arrive, (as observed by the traveller) then a) how fast were you going, and b) how much time has elapsed on Earth?

1) One volt is the potential difference between two points if 1 joule of energy is needed to move _________ coulomb of charge between the two points.

2) When a lamp is plugged into a 120-V socket, each coulomb of charge that flows in the circuit is raised to a potential energy of_______ joules.

Ok, so I am in grade 9 and I am going to take a grade 10 challenge science exam. I was just wondering if anyone can tell me the things that are done in physics and the basics of physics? Plz send me links to websites where they teach basic physics and such, not wikipedia. I asked the grade 10 teacher for grade 10 physics notes and she said that in grade 10, they do introduction to physics. Can anyone tell me about that and send me links teaching it plz? Thanks.

So far in science, we have learned about atoms (bohr diagrams models, elements, etc.), cell reproduction (sperm, eggs, reproductive parts, etc), and we are currently on electricity. I am pretty sure that these things contribute to physics. If that is already a part of physics, plz send me the basic stuff of physics (link or just write info), along with begginers stuff and intermediate stuff. Thanks.

Okay this is a real question, and i'm sure everyones heard this in their lifetime. Say you are riding an open elevator or platform lift, and everything is normal. All of a sudden it malfunctions and despite all safety devices, and interlocks begins plunging at rediculous speed taking you to your impending death. What if , say you waited until you got near the bottom and timed a jump perfectly and fell at most 5-10 feet. Now if my hypothesis is correct, you should still be alive and escape maybe with a few broken limbs. What do you think? Please, i am calling on all scientists, physicists, doctors ETC. This has been bothering me and needs answering.

I need to create a current of electricity that switches polarity with a frequency of 83.5 Kilohertz, then step that up in voltage without losing that frequency. Any ideas on how this may be done?

I want to check and see if I understand all of this correctly, so I'll list what I am thinking happens and you can correct me if I'm wrong, Ok?
I am talking about a very basic inductor in a very basic DC circuit, I am only wanting to understand the operation of an inductor in a circuit.

1. When the cirucit is first energized the coil acts like a resistor, it drops the maximum amount of voltage ( the amount of the source) which declines rapidly as the field builds. The voltage it drops is opposite to the increase in polarity only, equal in value. So it is exhibiting decreasing resistance to current flow in this charging state.

2 As current is decreased, the coil releases its energy by dropping a voltage of the same polarity to attempt and maintain the current's prior state. It is acting as a source in this state, but increasing its resistance to the change as its field deteriorates.
3. Steady state of current....NOT Sure?
