I often ask on here, when did time begin, I know that no-living thing can answer this question. People tend to say that it has no beginning, and I question them "how could something with no beginning exsist?"
People come up with the conclusion statement that human minds can't grasp the concept of there not being a beginning...
But although our puny human minds can't grasp it, mathematically and theoretically, it's impossible for something to have NO origin.
People say that the big bang created time, that's impossible. What was before the big bang?

When I think deeply about this life.. and the general beginning of time, like I mean trillions and trillions and trillions.. ect of years ago BEFORE the big bang, it leaves me awestruck and sometimes I come up with the conclusion that life is nothing but a mere illusion, that only I AM experiencing, it's mind boggling and quite scary to think about

Your thoughts?

Question: the solar wind is a thin, hot gas given off by the sun. charged particles in this gas enter the magnetic field of the earth and can experience a magnetic force. suppose a charged particle traveling with a speed of 9.0e6 m/s encounters the earth's magnitude of 1.2e-7 T. assuming that the particle's velocity is perpendicular to the magnetic field at an altitude where the magnitude of 1.2e-7 T. assuming that the particle's velocity is perpendicular to magnetic field find the radius of...Find (a) an electron and (b) a proton

My Approach:

(a) electron
r = (9.11e-31)(9.0e6)/ (1.6e-19)(1.2e-7) = 427 m

(b) proton
r = (1.67e-27)(9.0e6)/ (1.6e-19)(1.2e-7) = 7.83e5 m

Book Answer: I don't have the answer to (a); however, for part (b) it is supposed to be 7.83e8 m. it's the reason why im posthing this question! appreciate the help

for an application where a small amount of warmth is needed, and electrical or other power sources are unavailable... could simple flexing / working of the material generate a small amount of heat, without destroying the material over time.

Do you think Science and Spirituality is contradictory?

According to Indian Culture and spirituality, the whole nature (observing phenomena) is part of the self (observer), and there is no duality between the two (Advaita). Einstein describes that the whole matter is nothing much vibration of energy (e=mc2) - which means everything we see is play and display of the same energy.

Science knows that the base or substratum of matter is energy. Vendanta goes further - it explains the whole matter as vibration in the level of energy , and continues further, to explain that the substratum or base of whole energy is conciousness. This can be compared with the observations of String theory and UFT.

See http://amazedsaint-intutions.blogspot.com for my thoughts. Post your observations on this.

A 0.50 kg uniform bar with a length of 1.00 m has a fulcrum placed 40.0 cm from the left end of the bar. Also located from the left end of the bar are a 1.0 kg mass (m1) at 10.0 cm and a 2.0 kg mass (m2) at the 90.0 cm mark. Mass m2 also posses a charge (q2) of 4C. A charge q3 is placed 20.0 cm below the beam and holds the bar in rotational equilibrium parallel to the ground. Ignoring the polarization effects of the charges on the bar, what is the charge of q3?

I got that Fg=FE so I solved for q1: 8.7*(10^-5)C

But I'm stuck now..please help

Gravel is dropped into a conveyor belt @ 0.4 kg/s. Find the extra force required to keep the belt moving at a speed of 4 m/s.

My doubt is, since the gravel is being dropped vertically, it should have no affect on the horizontal motion of the belt, as vertical & horizontal components of any vector quantity do not affect each other. So, please explain the answer & rectify me if I'm wrong.

I'm using a piezoelectric igniter (brand name, Lightnin' Bug, sold for acetylene torches) which I bought specifically so I wouldn't have to keep matches around the kitchen. I've tried it on my stove, it won't work, on a butane lighter, on a paper towl soaked with ether. Nothing lights! I'm astonished.

Is the ignition energy for acetylene THAT MUCH lower than that of producer gas, that these sparks won't light anything else...? I know that the spark TEMPERATURE should be high enough, and I had read of a piezo device being used to ignite wood alcohol, that's why I figured it would have to work. 10 points to the one who can clear up this mystery for me.

(In the meantime, please don't be worried, on my behalf. I've gone back to using matches for the time being, there are no kids or pets in the house and I'm not leaving flammables around. I'm in no danger of fire or explosion.)

It would certianly revolutionize the porn industry! But seriously, what would it take to convert a hologram into a solid, tangible object? Is it theoretically possible?
