I'll admit im a Start Trek- the Next generation fan. The Holodecks amaze me- do you think it is within the relm of possibility that 3d interactve holograms could one day be created? It would certianly revolutionize the porn industry! But seriously, what would it take to convert a hologram into a solid, tangible object? Is it theoretically possible?

Why do you want it to be holograms? How about nanobots that can assemble themself into any object or person?
Would be even more realistic then a solid hologram.
Or you interface a computer directly with the brain like in the matrix. I guess that would be easier.
I think such a technology will become available in a few decades.
An even simpler approach would be to use a system that projects images into the eyes and a special suit that enables you to feel virtual objects. Such a thing could be developed within a few years but it wouldn't be as realistic as using a brain interface.
