I got to thinking about this with the whole N. Korea missle test deal.. If they launched, and we intercepted it, and it fell to the bottom of the ocean with the warhead undamaged, then went off--what would occur?

it seems to me that if the centrifugal force is what keeps us glued to the surface of the planet then if I were to stand exactly on the axis I should fall off. I know that isnt the case but why?

In a dark room, I flick on the light switch. Light, traveling at the speed of light, goes from the bulb to the wall. I do not beleive it is possible for something to go from 0 to speed of light instantly. Therefore, the speed of light changed over time - acceleration! How long(short) does it take to go from 0 to speed of light? And is this acceleration constant?

you take a space station floating in geo synchronous orbit and you tie a string to it, you are sitting on earth and you slowly pull on the string, the force of you pulling will eventually pull the space station to were gravity has an effect and it will come down no matter how fricken big it is...just don't jerk the string, nice steady pull.
Will it work, what do you think?
