Wow, it is amazing how much the exact wrong answer has influenced the answers here, behavior is certainly influenced by genetics. Consider what a gene does, it makes a protein, possibly a neurotransmitter, and that effects the way we think, the way we feel, how intelligent or aggressive we become, how frustrated or whether or not we have feelings or empathy for others.

The genetic factor governing behavior is so powerful that it has been spotted in every single study that looked for it. Yet for some reason the faith in a nurturing environment seems absolute. It is wishful thinking, however it is true that a good environment can armor one against and work as a deterrent to inherited antisocial tendency, it does not take away the tendency though.

No, bad behavior is influenced by the environment and the parent's teaching methods and own behavior. Children are the best mimickers.

Aye, the boy you were talking of, adopted by a criminal? Turned a criminal himself because he learned the trade from the environment around him, and beinh exposed to it.

Bad parenting leads to bad behavior!

Look as far as the genetic studies have shown there is no link between the genes and the outer behaviour of humans, which are a by product of the social environment into which he/she has been brought up !

no. but i think that there is a gene that makes a kid's behavior bad because the gene controls how he deals with things like stress and stuff. so i think that bad behavior cannot be transfered, but there are genes that are more likely to cause bad behavior.
