What one digit number can represent G, H, E, and F in these number sentences

H + H = G
E x H = E
G + F = G

I think that F is 0 but thats as far as I got. I have a feeling that G is an even number and H is half of that even number. I mostly need help with finding E. If i am wrong please correct me.

x-2y=1
x^2+y^2=29

without a calculator i really cannot do this totally and find x and y. I found y=-0.4 plus or minus SQRT(-544) which is impossible atleast i thought.

Any ideas, i would usually get these straight away but really cannot today. This is in an AS level C1 exam from May 2005, so no calculator and it obv can be done, using the knowledge available to people at that point in the AS level course.

This is the assignment.
Measure the height of your computer monitor to the nearest tenth of a centimeter or sixteenth of an inch. Measure the width of your monitor as well. Use the Pythagorean Theorem to find the length of the diagonal of your monitor. How do I measure it the the sixteenth of an inch? And how would I apply the Pythagorean Theorem to this?

I found the height which is 14 inches
The width is 15.5 inches

I used l'hopital's rule on this, but the derivatives just keep getting bigger and messier. I asked this question earlier today. No one solved it, but someone reminded me that the definition of e is e= lim (1+1/n)^n as n-->∞.. I don't know if this helps b/c I'm not sure how to get the 5 out from within the exponent.

I have a graphic calculator (TI-83 plus) and just recently, I found out that the sin button doesn't work. You could press it and all, but it doesn't give the correct answer. For example; 1sin(90) should equal to 1, but I get 0.8939966636. I tried reseting the memory, but it still doesn't work. Please help me, I'm going to have a test, and I need it to work!!!

In other words: q over 12 minus (q-2) over 4

LCD = 12

I got as far as -2q+6 / 12

The answer in the book is -q+3 / 6 - how do I simplify the above to get there?
