I have a graphic calculator (TI-83 plus) and just recently, I found out that the sin button doesn't work. You could press it and all, but it doesn't give the correct answer. For example; 1sin(90) should equal to 1, but I get 0.8939966636. I tried reseting the memory, but it still doesn't work. Please help me, I'm going to have a test, and I need it to work!!!

Sounds like you are in Radians rather than Degrees.

As a test, try putting in Sin(π / 2) and you'll get 1.

Go to the menu and change your mode from 'Rad' to 'Deg' and you should get the right answers again.

Are you happy with calculating the cube of a number on your calculator? like 2^3=8, 3^3=27, 4^3=64, 5^3=125 ? you don't have a cube key as such, you need to use the power key. (on my calc its yx with the y written as superscript above the x) so to calc 2^3 i type 2 [the yx key] 3 = and the answer pops out 8. well the cube root is the same as powering with the value of 1/3. try 125 [the yx key] 0.3333333 = and the answer should be 5 or very close. how to put the exact value of 1/3 into the calculator? you could use brackets like so: 125 [the yx key] ( 1 / 3 ) = If you are fortunate your calculator will have the nth root key on mine it is a x√ y then all you need do is type 125 [ the x√ y key] 3 =

check if you have radian mode or degree mode on. 90 degree is not the same as 90 radians. the conversion formula is
X degree = (x * PI) / 180 radians

it does work correctly, your calculator is in rad mode, you have to changed it to degree mode to get sin(90)=1.

It is the mode.

Under the mode menu, set "Rad" to "Deg."
