for this function y=logbase3[x+6]-4
the domain would be x>-6
and would be (-inf,inf)
I know you plug 0 into x for the y int can some show me how you get the answer and also the equation of the functions asymptote I know this is alot but if someone could please help it would make my day

Two problems:

1. I have NO idea how to do this and its not in my book

Explain how to use the graph of f(x)= (3/4)^x to produce the graph of 3/4(x) +2

2. This one I got down to where I have to factor and I cant factor 5x^2 + 75x -10 .... I think I went wrong somewhere???

Solve: log 5x + log (x + 15) = 1

Let a sequence be defined by x(n+1) = ( x(n)^5 +2)/6 with x(1)=0.

Show x(n+1)-x(n) =< 5/6 [x(n)-x(n-1)] =< 1/3 (5/6)^(n-1)

Presumably we can solve this using induction, though it seems quite tricky and I've made a mess of it so far. Or is there a better method? Thanks very much.

Ok, I'm doing a question that I am supposed to solve using the Quadratic Formula. I've already finished most of it, but am stuck at the last part. The equation is

21. 6x^2 + 7x + 2 = 0

I've gotten through most of the steps, and right now I'm at

x = -7 (plus/minus) the square root of 1, divided by 12.

Hard to write out the way it looks on paper, but I'll attempt.

.......-7 (+/-) 1 (sqrt)
x = ----------------------
...............12.............

Anyway, how do I go further? I don't understand what step is next. You can't simplify either -7 or 1, and I'm just confused. Maybe I did the whole thing wrong, but can anyone help?
Thanks so much!

about 0.6 per cent a year. Thus, if t is time in years since 1990, the population P, in millions, of Hungary can be approximated by P = 10.8(.994)^t
What does this model predict the population of Hungary will be in the year of 2000?
How fast (in people/year) does this model predict Hungary's population will be decreasing in the year 2000?

im supposed to divide the problem below, but i cant figure out how to solve it.

(3x – 2)(x - 4) – (x - 4)(6 – 5x) / (4 – x)(8x – 1)

=[3x^2 -14x+8 -(-5x^2+26x-24)]/[(4-x)(8x-1)]

= [8x^2-40x+32]/[(4-x)(8x-1)]

= 8x^2 -5x +4)/[(4-x)(8x-1)]

=(8x-1)(x-4)/[(4-x)(8x-1)]

= -1

this was my teachers response, but i cant figure out how to factor out the GCF.
Don't FOIL in the numerator. Factor out the GCF instead. What do you get?
