If L is the dimension of length can you have sin(L) or is it just nonsense. If you can have it is the result dimensionless.

I need help to prove this please.
Integrate(from pi to pi) of sin(mx) sin(nx) dx is pi if n=m and the integration equals zero is n not equals to m.
Yes, it is integrating from +pi to +pi.
Please show me the proves. You can show either one. Thank you!

A curve has the equation y = 2cos x - cos 2x

(i) Given that sin 2x may be expressed as 2sin x cos x, find the x-coordinate of the stationary point of the curve and determine the nature of this stationary point.

Please show your workings clearly and explain..thks

all i know is tht:
1) set equation to y---so y= x^3 - 7
2) switch x and y---- so x = y^3 - 7
3) solve for y
4) put in inverse notation

i do not know how to do number 3 or 4....for number 3, i need 4....thanks guyz for the help....i understand all the other ones....just this one i am confused on because of the y^3...

To supply blood to all parts of the body, the human artery system must branch repeatedly. Suppose an artery of radius r branches off from an artery of radius R (r>r) at an angle θ. The energy lost due to friction is approximately this:

E(θ)=(csc θ/r^4)+((1-cot θ)/R^4).

Find the value of θ that minimizes the energy loss.

I'm not asking for the answer, I just need help in finding the derivative for the equation, so that I can solve for θ. That is how the book has the problem stated.

I need to know what the point is that is 5.44 away from point (7,3). Possibly one could use the distance formula. I would like to know how you got it also.

it's been ten million years since i've done this sort of thing.

it's for a program to determine the number of intersections (points) in an even hex grid with a radius of x.

(for example: a grid of 7 hexes, x = 1.
for a grid of 91 hexes, x=5.)

thanks in advance!

Show that Aut (Z,+) has only two elements.

So I've figured out what the two elements are, f(x) = x and g(x) = -x. But I can't figure out how to prove that there are no other elements.

Here's what I don't understand: if 1 car gan go 60 mph on a freeway with relative ease, why can't 1000 cars going in the same direction ALSO go 60 mph with relative ease? Why is it that, as more vehicles get added into the mix, the slower everyone seems to go? Is it simply the random mix of idiocy, people changing lanes, larger vehicles vs smaller, exiting & entering vehicles? And is it unavoidable human nature to gawk at a traffic accident, thereby slowing down the people behind you?
It seems like every day I hear traffic reports of accidents at the same locations & just wondering WHY??? And, with that knowledge, what can be done to decrease the probability of repeated accidents?

Sorry -- lots of questions -- but I've wondered abou these things for years.
