I got this question from my homework and I thought that instead of just doing trial and error technique, I might use some mathematical technique.

Would someone please tell me how to do "The sum of m and 6 is a multiple of 3. If the product of m and 6 is greater than 20, but less than 60, what is one possible value of m?"

How would you explain how to do this problem without trial and error?

I'm not sure, but I think this might require modular arithmetic. I'm completely new to that subject so please tell me in a very detailed explanation.

I was presented the question: (12 - 8j) / ((2 + j)^2). I got the answer (4 - 72j) / 25. The book however says it;s (-1 -3/2 j).

Who's correct?

the vectors (1,2,2) and (2,-2,1) in R^3 determine a plane P through the origin

True or false, the vector (3,0,3) lies in P
True or false, vector (2,1,-2) lies in P

im sure i can figure this out myself I just dont know the process on how to check if they belong in P.
if somone can explain the process then i should be good

The mass m of a substance at time t is modelled by the equation m = m0e^-kt where m0 is the initial mass and k is a constant. After 20 years, 1/5 has decayed and 4/5 remain.

1. For the following equation, take any two points on the line and calculate the slope: y = 5x - 2.

....Please let me know if i have any mistakes:

y = 5x -2 ; is equivalent to: y = 5(1) - 2

So, the two points would be (5, -2) and (1, -2)

m(slope) = (y2 - y1) / (x2 - x1) = (-2-(-2) / (1-5) = (-2+2) / (1-5) = (0) / (-4). So would the solution or the slope be (0/-4) ?

or computation, not sure of the word, for lottery works syndicate. There are 10 of us with 1 line each = 10 lines, how can we cover our lines with min/max numbers? ie. we have 3 numbers up on one line, how do I work out that we are guaranteed 3min on other lines etc. Can someone give me the formula as to cover all these lines. realise I may not have worded this properly, but relying on maths/numbers people will understand what I mean, basically want to cover all lines in the event of 3 or more numbers coming up. many thanks in advance.
