An american engineer undertakes a project in Europe to design and construct bridge pilings exactly as were done ikn the United States. Each piling required 20.0 cubic yards of concrete in the USA. If 42 pilings will be needed for the project, how many cubic meters of concrete will be required?

I'm stuck on this question. Can anyone help me please???
Thank you sooo much:)

20*42 = 840 cubic yards

1 cubic yard = 0.764554858 cubic meter, so multiply

840*0.764554858 to get 642.226081 cubic meters of concrete.

How many cubic yards are needed?
20 * 42 = 840
How many cubic meters are in one cubic yard?
0.764544858
How many cubic meters are needed?
0.764544858 * 840 = 642.18

But since concrete manufacturers probably won't sell 18% of a cubic meter we round our answer up to 643 (cubic meters of concrete)

Note: Less cubic meters are needed because a meter is longer than a yard and thus a cubic meter has more volume than a cubic yard.

20.0 cubic yards of concrete multiplied by 42 pilings = 840 cubic yards. This is equal to 642.23 cubic meters.

Do it in US units then convert at the end.

Total concrete needed = 20.0 * 42 = 840 cu yrds needed

1 yard = 0.914 meters so 1 cu yard = (0.914)^3 cu mtrs
1 cu yrd = 0.764 cu mtrs

so 840 cu yrds * (0.764 cu mtrs/cu yrd) = 642.13 cu mtrs

volume of concrete required=42*20
=840 yd^3
1yard=36''
=36*2.54
=91.44cm
=0.9144m
1yd^3= 0.9144^3m^3=0.764555m^3
amount of concrete required
=840*0.764555
=642.2262m^3.ANS.

just change units
20.0 yd^3 x (3ft/yd)^3 x (12 in/ft)^3 x (2.54 cm/in) ^3 x (1 m/100cm)^3

all x 42

[20.0 x27x144x12x(2.54^3)] / (100^3)
all x42
= 642. 2 m^3 approx.
