(5 / 8) x (6 / 7) x (4 / 5)
= (5 x 6 x 4) / (8 x 7 x 5)
= (6 x 4) / (8 x 7)
= 6 / 14
= 3 / 7

First off some definitions:
Numerator: Top part of fraction. It's the 1 in 1/2.
Denominator: Bottom part of fraction. It's the 2 in 1/2.
1 Nominator
-
2 Denominator.
Well with fractions when you multiply you multiply the numerators by the numerators and the denominators with the denominators.
So lets say with the example:
1Â Â 2
- * -
2Â Â 4
So when you multiply the numerators (top) together and the denominators together you get:
1 * 2Â Â Â Â 2
------ =Â -
2 * 4Â Â Â Â 8
It doesn't matter how many fractions you have if they're all multiplied together it's the same.
3Â Â Â 2Â Â Â 4 Â Â Â Â Â Â 3 * 2 * 4 Â Â Â Â 24
- * Â - * Â - Â = ------------- = Â ----
4Â Â Â 5Â Â Â 8 Â Â Â Â Â Â 4 * 5 * 8 Â Â Â 160
So as to your question: How do you multiply the following:
5Â Â Â 6Â Â Â 4 Â Â Â 5 * 6 * 4 Â Â Â 120
- * Â - * Â - = ----------- = Â -----
8Â Â Â 7Â Â Â 5 Â Â Â 8 * 7 * 5 Â Â Â 280
You can reduce it if you want. I just play with the numbers(divide the top and bottom by the same number) until I get the simplest fraction.
120Â Â Â Â 6Â Â Â Â Â 3
----- = --- = Â -
280Â Â Â Â 14Â Â Â 7
I just looked at the original fraction and saw that they both were divisible by 20. That wasn't enough so I divided by 2 again. In math (to me at least :) ) it really doesn't matter how you got the answer as long as you did it mathematically and you can show your work.
p.s. sorry about the formatting. I did this originally in notepad. I fixed it up as best I could. I wish Yahoo would let me use a monospace font to answer. Hope that helps.

All you have to do is line the numbers up, numerators w/ numerators, denominators w/ denominators and multiply:
5 6 4 120
_ x _ x _ = _
8 7 5 280 Now you can simplify:120/280=60/140=30/70=15/35=5/7 The answer is 5/7!

Because of the *COMMUTATIVE* property, you can multiply these fractions in any order.
First, line up two of those fractions like this:
4/9 x 18/7
If you can, cross reduce, like this:
4/9 x 18/7 = 4/1 x 2/7
Then multiply those two cross reduced fractions like this:
4/1 x 2/7 = (4 x 2/ 1 x 7) or 8/7
Then take your solution and do 1-3 all over again with the leftover fraction.
Hope that helped!
* Sorry I didn't use your exact numbers, but I wanted you to figure it out on your own!!!

just write them and multiply the top numbers together, write that and a horizontal bar and then the bottom numbers and write that under the horizontal bar....multiplying is the easiest thing to do in working with fractions.
