Chelsea is a very independent woman who happens to be blind. She is packing for an overnight trip to the city, where she will be meeting her sister. She will need to pack one set of clothes for the next day. Chelsea doesn't have anyone to assist her in the task. This is no problem when it comes to packing all of her clothes, except for her socks.

In Chelsea's drawer there are five identical pairs of white socks, and five identical pairs of black socks, all jumbled together (not matched into pairs). There are no other socks in the drawer. Chelsea figures she will just grab enough socks to be sure she is getting a matching pair, and then once she has arrived at her destination, she will consult her sister on the color.

QUESTION: How many socks will Chelsea need to take from the drawer to be sure that she is getting at least one matching pair?

I am looking for a way to make a smoothed non-linear regression line with one of these programs. A kernel or median smoothed line would be ideal. Anyone know how?

True zero = the sum of 0 elements = true nothing.
Strange zero = the sum of > 0 elements = 0 with structure.
To have 0 dollars is not the same as to have x dollars and owe x dollars.

I had one in high school in Trigonometry that came up with some funny ones. Here's one:"Rudoph is up on the roof of a house waiting for Santa to huury up and deliver the presents. Down below in the bushes 30 feet away there is a deranged hunter with a rifle. The roof is 40 feet high, and the hunter's angle of trajectory is 30 degees. Will Rudolph be killed?"
