Get the volume of said pyramid, and divide it by 2.
The volume of a pyramid is (1/3)*base width*base height*height
next time just type "volume of a pyramid" into yahoo's search engine... alot easier to look for yourself and learn it

Any pyramid (whether it has a square, rectangular, or triangular base....or even a circular base in which case the solid would be called a cone) has a volume calculated by:
The area of the base times the height times 1/3.
So, if you know the area of the base and the height of it, then do the above formula and divide your answer in half. If you don't know the height of the pyramid, sometimes you can find out if you have other measurements by using the Pythagorean theorem (A squared times B squared equals C squared in a right triangle with hypotenuse C).

The volume of a pyramid is Bh/3, where B is the area of the base and h is the pyramid's height (meaning the length of a line segment from and perpendicular to the base to the vertex, or "point," of the pyramid.
Half of this, if you're looking for a shortcut, would be
Bh/6.

Turn it upside down and fill it with smarties.
Then eat the smarties, remembering to count them first, then work out how many smarties make up a cubic inch. Divide the amount of smarties in the pyramid by the amount in a cubic inch and you should get your answer, give or take a few smarties.
Works well with M&Ms, Jelly Tots etc.

I am no math genius, by a long shot, but if you know how to calculate the entire volume of the whole pyramid, do so, then simply divide it in half, right?

It depends if you need to work out half the volume or the volume if the pyramid is truncated at half height.
More clarification is required.

Many people assume, as I do, that when the word "pyramid" is used, that common usage implys a four-sided, eight-edged "solid," and NOT a "tetrahedron." If that is the case, then your formula is below:
(1/3 bh)/2 : where b=area of base & h= hieght
