First, I found one piece of the big rock and I found the other piece a few centimeters apart. Given the fact that this stone is very hard, I think it was not broken by humans, but by another geological event (earthquake, landslide, avalanche, etc) There are no other rocks like it in the vicinity. Some people tell me they have seen others two kilometers from this one. When hit with a metallic tool, it emits light sparkles. What does this tell me about the history of this area in Haiti characterized by red soil, mountain. There is a mountain 7 to 10 miles away which looks like an extinct volcano one one side. The ocean is about 12 miles away on the other side.

I am in 8th grade. I want an interesting topic, but not something that has to do with animals or other dangerous things. The topic that interests me is about food, (maybe something about eggs and soda or something like that). Its not due until January, but I want to start early.
Happy Holidays! I will appreciate it if someone helped me. Thanks. =)

and a rock?

Dictionary
Stone
noun
1 the hard, solid, nonmetallic mineral matter of which rock is made

I really am looking for a geological answer to this. I am understanding that a stone is the mineral that makes up a rock. Yet a thesaurus gives a synonym for stone the word "rock." So are they the same. Or is it because one makes up the other.

I've got my own reasons for why this is important to me, but it is, so I was looking for a scientific clarification.

Answers appreciated. Links are fine.

Thank you.

My friend told me that in the 1950's Colorado was so cold in the winter, and global warming helped them. She said that people have been saying that this might happen soon, and that the hottest weather will be 70 degrees. Is that true or false? Care to explain!

It is not faceted but smooth on one side and the rest looks like it might have been dropped because its sort of sharp. It is a deep clear green like a 7 up bottle. Do you think this is all it is? How do I find out? The rocks belonged to a gemologist years ago, he died and someone bought the house and gave us a pile of 'rocks' that were in the back yard. This piece is the size of a huge avocado-it also has some white rock on a spot of it, looks chipped off.

Please, educate me on the applications of terms like; tallest, highest, summit, sea-level, etc, as applied in this field.
What exactly does planet earth appear like in a simple example when you refer to the phrase; 'center of the earth'.
In my own idea of tallest / highest or any other term connected to it, i thought we are looking at the very first tip or point of touch on any part of the earth's surface whatsoever, if one descends vertically from the sky?
Now, given my own thinking as above, where (name of mountain etc) on earth is it highest?
I am yearning to go visiting, or is it 'summitting' the highest point on planet earth.
Thanks.
