a) The greenhouse effect is being caused by gases in the atmosphere that are absorbing infrared
radiation emitted from the warmed surfaces of the earth. Thus the global surface temperature has begun to increase

b) The four greenhouse gases are CO2 H2(g) CH4 and O2

c) The burning of fossil fuels is indirectly causing a significant decrease in the amount of methane in the atmosphere

d) Photosynthesis is an important process in maintaining the balance of carbon dioxide in the enviornment

e) The absorbtion of infrared radiation by CO2 causes the C=O bonds to both bend and stretch.
