Hey Crissy,
For the past 8 years I have been working for the National Weather Service as a meteorologist, so maybe I can help you. we have a saying for the National Weather Service and that is "working together to save lives", really this explains our job pretty well. Every day we create a forecast for a particular region of a state that goes over Temp, Cloud Cover, Precip, and even the wind/wind chill. Our job is to make the lives of people easier. Weather impacts many different aspects of life, such as driving, vacation, sports even travel for airline. The most important part of our job however is giving out warnings and watches when severe weather is in effect. These watches and warnings have saved millions of lives over the years, giving people a chance to get to safety, or even prepare for something such as a winter storm. We look at radar and satellite images to produce these forecasts and converse with other NWS if needed. We are operated under NOAA which is the (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration) in the Department Of Commerce. The Meteorologist today make the lives of people much safer and easier to get around during the day. Let me know if you need any other info. Hope this helps

Meteorologist is a person who studies or predicts the weather.
An individual who specialized and who uses scientific principles to explain, understand, observe or forecast the earth's atmospheric phenomena and/or how the atmosphere affects the earth and life on the planet.
Activities of a meteorologist often are classified into:
air pollution meteorology, global climate modeling, hydrometeorology, and numerical analysis and forecasting.
Although meteorologists now rely heavily on computer models (numerical weather prediction), it is still relatively common to use techniques and conceptual models that were developed before computers were powerful enough to make predictions accurately or efficiently.
Job Duties:
- Calculates air quality effects at different emission levels; uses inventories of emission sources, meteorological and topographical data, and population.
- Analyzes meteoroligal and air pollution data and prepares pollution forecasts.
- Analyzees and evaluates climatological factors to develop short and long-range forecasts of air pollution.
-- Maintain records of pollution levels, and advises officials as to when to declare air pollution alerts.
-- conducts air pollution and climatological studies and prepares technical reports and articles.
-- Operates, calibrates and maintains specialized scientific equipment in climatological observation stations.
-- Selects weather observation sites and maintains and periodically checks instrument calibrations.
-- Participates in research projects related to air resource management, including such factors as industrial zoning, and trends in growth of industry and population.
-- Assists federal, state, country and local governments, industries, research institutions and citizens with meteorological and climatological problems.
-- May provide guidance and information to consultants and business submitting air pollution modelling to the state.
-- Appears at hearing, depositions and in court actions as an expert to explain and illustrate air pollution data.
-- Maintain records and prepares reports and correspondence related to the work.
-- Performs related work as assigned.

Meteorologists make the weather forecast based on computer simulation techniques. (The computer tries to predict what the weather will be like, it uses the data collected by satellites, weather monitoring stations, etc.)

i'm getting the jist of what you assert. are you able to suspect we've a "meteorologist" on a close-by information broadcast who gained an emmy for his factor of the information? Awards for "predicting" the climate!! in basic terms in u.s.!!
