Several years ago an astronomer Steven ??? proved his theory that the gravity wave cause by the moon and sun has an effect on triggering volcanic erruptions. In fact he could predict the intensity of the erruptions by the position of the sun and the moon. I believe the same gravity plays a signifcant role in triggering earth quakes. This gravity pulls at the earth magma and effect tides causing stress at the earth plates. Has anyone studied this?

What I'm thinking is no fossil could possibly survive that long. With rates of erosion, volcanoes, earthquakes shaking them violently hundreds, maybe thousands of times over that time period no fossil could survive that long. Maybe I'm wrong but how could anything that long ago even a fossil stay in tact until now.

Or maybe its another effect, such as optical. I understand that the horizon is proportional to the square root of the height of the observer relative to the sea level . So on the beach, lets say I am 20 feet high. That works out to something like 25 miles. Looking left to right rapidly, its true that the locus of lines from my eye to the horizon would be a cone. But only with a 20 foot drop in 25 miles. I would never see that. Has anyone seen this?

I'm no scientist, but because Peru had an earthquake, would that put more pressure on the fault lines north, up the coast and eventually cause major earthquakes on the coast of California? Didn't California have a small earthquake just recently and wasn't there predictions of a major earthquake on the San Andreas Fault line made on CNN just a few days ago? Shouldn't people be made more aware of this possibility?

Where does the volume of water go when the level gets low in one particular body of water, and what is the basis for estimating the lenght of time when the water comes back to that body of water, untill it returns almost near to its former level (highest ). What causes very low tide and very high tide incidents. Are there material losses between changes of events ? Thank you.

I went on a cruise just this last week. I noticed that in Houston the sun set past 8 p.m. central time. Then, while in the Carribean Sea, then sun set at 6:40ish. I thought that the closer to the equator you were, the later the sun set. We were hundreds of miles south of the Tropic of Cancer and the Sun is still overhead the northern hemisphere. Please help with this question. I am knowledgeable in science, but this question is driving me crazy!

Then the tectonic plates would start moving in the other direction right? Would it start out at a much faster speed, or would this happen slow and gradual. Would there be earthquakes all over or would the change be unnoticeable? Would the barrier that stops much of the radiation from space be let down for a couple seconds allowing a lot of damage to the Earth? Then the fault line would be dividing in Australia and coming together in the Atlantic and causing the canal between Egypt and the Arab nations to close again? Of course this would take a long time right, but I want to know all the juicy details if you can please assist me. Thank you.
