I have been researching this quite a bit. Things like pigs with human blood running through them, mice with human brain cells, etc.. Do you feel it is wrong that we are toying with nature and in a sense "playing god", or do you feel as though it is a good thing because it may help with medical advancements and such?

I was told be a friend of mine the other day that it is impossible to drink an entire gallon of milk in less than an hour. (Ya, don’t ask me how we got on that subject) He said your body will reject it and cause you to vomit! Now, I have never heard of such a thing and I am wondering if this is BS or if there is scientific proof of this?

The full title of the book is

"On the Origin of Species by Means of Natural Selection, or the Preservation of Favoured Races in the Struggle for Life"

I was just wondering what the word "Race" is in reference to in the book - did he mean Human Race or the different races of todays world or OTHER. Please only if you read it, not guessing.

I've been studying A2 biology and a though has occured. Cows gain the majority of the protein in thier diet from digesting the microorganisms that live in their first two stomachs (Rumen and reticulem). This symbiotic relationship supplies the microorganisms with somewhere to live and plenty of nutrients, and the cow with fatty acid from microorganism respiration and protein from the dead ones.
So if a cow was given antibiotics would it starve to death seeing as the microaoganisms would be killed and it would hence be unable to digest cellulose? Just curious...

First off, I do believe in evolution, and I'm not Christian. My intention here is to raise the bar with these arguments. I've had a lot of stupid arguments over the years with Creationists that had no real scientific basis. However, a Christian friend of mine who was a former astronomy student actually had a few good ones.

1. Interdependent Systems. The human eye and the bombardier beetle are the classic examples. Still not a rock solid argument, but tons better then, "Cause God did it."

2. (The really good one) Stellar Life Cycles. According to the dude, our sun was in a different state when evolution is said to have started. It was giving off much less energy, and, according to him, could not have supported life on Earth. I suspect that it probably just supported much less life on Earth, and when it got to it's current state, there was probably a corresponding 'boom' in life on earth. But, I really can't back that up.

I need to find some examples of Bilateral asymmetry (different left and right sides) in vertebrates, and I am completely stuck. All I can think of are those crabs with one really big claw, but they aren't vertebrates? Can anyone think of any?

(Sorry about asking a blatantly obvious homework question, but google isn't being any help to me)

How is it that I am able to see someone or a someplace with such detail without actually being there? I know it obviously can't be with my eyes, and I assume it has to do with my memory, but how is my brain able to produce an amazingly accurate image to my conscious mind without me looking at that thing at the time? Also, does this have any similarities to the way I can vividly see something when I dream?
