Wouldn't the milk sort of leak out into the water around them?

Yes! to be classed as a mammal you have to have a mammory gland which produces milk, except the male of that species....

They definitely DON'T drink seawater as one of the last replies says. Seawater is far too salty - and drinking it would upset the osmotic balance in the dolphin, causing it's organs to dessicate (dry out), not to mention crenation of the red blood cells (where they shrivel up as all the water gets sucked out).

They get their water from the fish they eat.

Oh, yeah - they do breast feed, and the baby dolphin has to keep swimming because the mother rarely stops moving. Imagine trying to drink milk whilst swimming AND holding your breath!!
