The suits were only an inch or so thick and scientists reckon you would need a suit 6 feet deep of lead to stop the radiation or you would be killed, yet the astronauts are still fine today. And this was all achieved in the sixties but we have never gone back nor are there any plans to. Surely this is just another government lie?

there is no friction in outer space.....so even a small accelaration will increase the velocity...even if it is a little bit....it will still increase....so why cant we increase the velocity indefinitely???

In '79 I was watching a TV show on UFOs. I am sceptical about stuff like this. Near the end of this program they ran a short (maybe 40 sec.) black and white movie.

It was taken at the Groom Lake base ... area 51. The footage shows a plane (like a B-52) taxing down the runway towards a hanger or something. The camera followed the plane. As the plane taxied behind a rock outcrop, the camera continued to pan to the right, to a scene (I would say less 50' away) of a jeep parked on the tarmac with military guys standing near. None had side arms!

An ET was walking across the tarmac towards them and 2 or 3 other ETs stood further back beside 2 parked saucers. The Et stopped when it reached the jeep and stood face to face with military. Footage ended shortly after. I have never seen it again ...and believe me I have looked over the years!

I also recently hear a radio interview and a film director spoken of this exact footage and said it has never aired publicly ...someone is lying!

If the moon is phase locked to the Earth, then shouldn't the far side of the moon be more pummeled by meteors than the near side facing Earth? Wouldn't the Earth block most direct hits?

is this because it is closer to Earth than the other, or is it because one is hotter than the other.

And how far is the average star from Earth?

Let's say we went back in time to the beginning of the universe and everything is created in exactly the same way. Then the Earth is formed and it revolves around the sun in the same way, but now everything is randomized. Would the world be exactly the same as it is now? That is to say that is it by some sort of destiny that we are here or rather by random chance of one in a billion odds?

More specifically, would all life require DNA to reproduce? Would the same human inventions be invented at the same time? Would computers use a non-binary system? The possibilities are endless, or are they?

As you can see in this page on nasa website, this is a photograph of surface of moon. Nasa calls this photograph "A Rille Runs Through It".
What is "Rille"?

As you know, there are several aircraft flying in air and when a space vehicle launches to space may impact to one of this aircraft or even another soace object in earth orbital. Now I want to know that how can prevent the accident.

My boyfriend is into astronomy and I would like to take him somewhere for our anniversary. Does anyone have any good suggestions?

Personally, I don't. There are several factors that contribute to the way our planet is and the life that exists on it. First of all the relative size of the Sun, Moon and Earth. The Earth has a moon that is 1/4 its own size and that effects the amount of gravity pulling on the Earth. Also, we're a nice distance away from the sun, not too close to burn up our atmosphere and not so far away that the heat from the sun can't give us proper lighting and the right amount of heat and all those nutrients we get from the sun. And, wow, there's so many more things that would just make it impossible for there to be another planet just like Earth. I could go on forever!

Apparently, since its liquid water, you can ride a boat or something right? My reference links says no? Whaaaa?

What would happen, basically, if you went/landed/drowned/WHATEVER on Jupiter?

(And can you state some interesting facts about Jupiter and all the other planets like Mars and Saturn or something? Just for fun :3 Astronomy is cool)
