Uhh, where are you getting that information from? While we may not be able to journey to the center of the Earth (had to get that in there), we know pretty positively what is actually there. Plus- what does visiting the moon or Mars have to do with the center of the Earth anyway? Kind of independent things aren't they? That's like asking if the New York Yankees will have a bad season because the New York Giants aren't doing well.

We have a very good idea of what's inside the Earth. And, staying on Earth could mean Man's eventual extinction, while going to the moon (and beyond) could guarentee his survival.

Geologist do have a very good idea what the interior of the earth is like. Besides, it's eaiser to go to the moon and Mars than to the center of the earth.
