If a neutron star has a diameter of 10 km and rotates 642 times a second what is the speed at the neutrons star equator as a percentage of the speed of light?

The new earthlike planet discovered in Libra is only 20.5 light years away and has temperatures close to earth's. Do you think this is a good candidate as the first planet to be visited by a spacecraft, manned or unmanned?

Read about the details in the link.

Would it also be possible to sustain oxygen for the crew and passengers and navigate once in outer space, and eventually return to earth without too many problems? Are there any legal problems with this either?

Newton predicted that if the sun is gone the planets would instantly fly out of their orbits. Drifting off into space in a stright line. Newton thought the gravity was the force that acts instantaniously across any distance with mass or volume.
Einstein saw a big problem with Newtons theory a problem that aroused from his work with light. Einstein knew that light doesn't travel instantaniously in fact it takes 8mins for the suns rays to travel to 93mill/miles Earth. He shown that nothing, not even gravity can travel faster than light. How can the Earth be release from its orbit before the darkenss resulting from the from the sun's absence reach our eyes?
Anything that outruns light is impossible that ment Newton. the 4D of space a single Dimention of time has bond togather a frabric of space. To understand this Einstein has to use geometry to understand this. Things move along this fabric of space time. Like the surface of a trampoline. Is morph & strech by heavy objects like stars

Being all the planets are rotating in the `X` axis of the sun, I have my own doubt that there may be some planet like things are in `y` axis.

Einstein's a great prominment man. He speculated that taking out the sun, would take roughly 8min to the light to get to us, and also 8min when the gravity is extracted from the sun.
Then Earth would be the 3rd planet to drift away, 4mins later Mars, 7min astro belt, 12 Jupitor, ect..

Even though gravity cant be measured by any instrument Einstein speculated that gravity travels with mass, and its a push or pull on bodies and also travels lightspeed. Proof: If you take 2 bodies in space fAr far away but close enough that they will slowly* drift toward each other. If you take one away, the object would would continue tp drift toward the previous objects location but stop. This cant be proven due to the fact of not placing the object far enought from each other.

So does gravity travel the speed of light? 300,000 km/sec???

If we did land on the moon would it not be easy to just point the hubble at it or an earthbound scope cause the flag is still there as well as the rovers. That would end the discussion would it not.

Don't you think that we have enough technology now to at least make my comment somewhat possible? Well, think about it, if the bible does not want us to play God but it I think it indicates that we should do anything possible to survive for as long as possible we would still be fulfilling Gods wish...We are nothing but a mere speck relative to the Universe. If were able to store our memories and contents of our brain into a computer, perhaps we would be able to travel those mere 20 "light years" to explore other solar systems.....I personally believe that we cannot be the only beings in the Universe and that we are primitive in comparison, until we can live longer, much longer, ie: at least 50 light years longer, we will not even be able to explore Neptune in our lifetime..I believe that society really needs to look at these things, I believe that without the ability to live as other forms, (ie, some sort of computer or hard drive) that we will never be to live life to the fullest!!

How fast are we capable of making a space shuttle travel? I'm asking because I was reading about the new planet, Gliese 581, which is said to have earth like habitation characteristics, but is 20.5 lightyears away-- impossible to reach in a human lifetime. So I would like to know how fast our space shuttles go (in lightyears, preferably), to see how much time it would actually take to reach that planet.

I saw an article today that said scientists have found out about an earth like planet 20.5 light years away. Does that mean we can get there in about 20 years to see if anyone lives there?

How far can an alien be so we can "hear" it? Lets consider that there is a similar civilization as ours with the same amount of radiation

the calculations by Karman tell us that we wouldn't be able to validate any "good" signal to the nearest star.

If this is correct then what are we trying to listen?

If the planet proves to be habitable, do you think we should send a colony ship? Such an expidition would require a push on scale with the one that fueled the Apollo program. While it is unlikely that any original crew could survive to reach the planet (with current starship plans), their children and/or grandchildren could (they would use nuclear fusion, nuclear fission, antimatter, or a ramjet). Would it be worth the effort to expand the human presence across space?
