Don't simply refer me sites like Wikipedia... I've read nearly everything online about the incident.

I would rather hear what you have to say about it. Do you buy into the asteroid or comet theory? Do you believe one of the other theries? Do you have your own theory?

Could it at one time have been a planet that exploded? Is it just leftover material from when the Solar System formed that never came together to form anything?

I have read all his books and as a fairly smart guy, I can't refute them. I am a tech and Amateur Astronomer and I think the guy has some answers- he just took all the written historys from all the world and got the story right- none of his theories have been debunked- Sagen tried and failed. Anyone else believe?

Or, do we mean that all the elementary particles that make up the universe are expanding in size as well?

In other words, are all the stars and galaxies flying away from each other, while the particles that they are made from are staying the same size and distance from each other - and hence the universe is becoming more 'diluted', OR, is it just that all the stars and galaxies are staying the same relative size and its the elementary particles that are expanding - and hence the universe is not becoming 'diluted'?

Mariners often take Sun/Star sights just to compare the ship's position with GPS.
now as we all know that for sunlight to reach earth it takes about 8.5 minutes so that means the sun which i'm seeing is not acually there. this is the position where sun was 8.5 minutes before, but when calculating the sights the time is taken directly without any correction. also nowhere in the books which are used in the process (nautical almanac, norie's tables) any correction in this regard is mentioned. still mariners managed to get the right position. so where is the correction??
only serious answers please as i'm a mariner.
