at the place i work we have 4 pine trees (about 35-45 feet tall) and around 2 of them is a deck with two square holes around the trunk of the tree. around this time i noticed the two trees surrounded by the deck are loosing little pices of branches about 4-5 in long and the two trees look less full in needles as te other 2 around them. i have worked here for 3 years and never noticed this before. does anyone know whats wrong?

I have been very interested in starting a ranch/farm but I don't have the means necessary to buy any land. Land is selling for between $800-$2500/acre (depending on the classification and type).

My credit is shot but I have experience in farming (did custom haying for 12 years as well as lived and worked on a farm for 8 years). Problem is my experience doesn't qualify me for any starting farmer programs (must have at least 2 years farming managment experience). Most of the farmers in my area are looking at there farms as their retirement home/fund.

So making it simply put, I have no credit and not enough experience. Still how can I make my dreams come true of starting my own farm and ranch?

Topps Meat Co. on Saturday expanded a recall of ground beef from about 300,000 pounds to 21.7 million pounds, one of the largest meat recalls in U.S. history.

THE STORY:
http://www.cnn.com/2007/US/09/29/meat.recall/index.html

MY QUESTION (for the mathematicians out there):
How many cows does 21.7 million pounds of ground beef equate to?

Start here>>how many pounds of ground beef does ONE cow produce?

Give me the number of cows...
>>and how you derived at your answer<<

US News Aug., Scientific American Sept. and Harper’s Magazine Oct issues have articles about genetically altered food. These articles explain the difference between making within species versus mating unlike things such as tomatoes and flounder fish to create tomatoes with antifreeze qualities. Also, globalization interferes with regulation which makes genocide easier. Creating products that produce their own pesticides that rats, cattle and bugs will not eat is mixed into human food and sold to us as a way to fix world starvation. It so seems that mass food with no nutritional value that induces heart disease, diabetes and cancer is assuring the need for medical intervention by promoting overweight malnourished people with no way of knowing if the addicting genes of such plants as cocaine and heroine are being blasted into these foods to increase desire for foods lacking in nutrition while inducing lethargy.

These articles raise the question of how can one be sure that Porky the pig is not laced with cocaine and Foghorn Leghorn’s DNA has not been altered with heroine to eliminate protein absorption while making us crave fried chicken?

From a professional point of view I have seen a change in body fat and immunity over the past twenty years. Evolution has not changed so quickly in the past, so one must wonder what we are doing (in the name of great fortunes that can be had) that is making many humans over weight and lazy or starving and paying for liposuction?

Blah, blah, blah answers imply laziness not wanting to fix or change status quo or having vested interest in genetically modified (GMO) products. Does anyone else feel more open communication and product labeling that products are GMO is needed to allow people all over the world to decide what they want to buy and be more informed?

I had my house fully fumigated October 2006, meaning it was covered the whole house entirely, and fumigated for sub and med. termites (two different kinds).
Now, since last week I have found 4 living termites flying around, and none since the whole year. I am upset.
Could it be they did not do a good job the company, or are they coming from the neighbor next door?
She rents, but I do not want to ask her, and if she does have termites from her home coming to mine, could I sue or what action can I take against her property management company? Or do I have to call my company up again?

Why is it papers print whatever crap they like and the public (most of them) believe it?

This latest milk scandal is really annoying me. The supermarkets and processing units have found to be allegedley overcharging the public at least 20p per litre. Great, about time they were stopped.

But what really pissed me off is that the newspapers then went on to say so are the farmers!!!! - they state that it costs the farmer, 4p per litre to produce milk and we sell it for 14p - does it hell, it costs between 12 - 15p per litre !!! and that is truthfully - we are lucky as we are on a good contract and can achieve around 19 - 22p per litre - which keeps us afloat!!!

Rant over, thankyou!!
