Suppose that an airplane passenger whose itinerary requires a change of airplanes in Ankara,Turkey, has a 4% chance of losing each piece of his or her luggage independently.Suppose that the probability of losing each piece of luggage in this way is 5% at Da Vinci airport in Rome, 5% at Kennedy airport in New York, and 4% at O'Hare airport in Chicago.Dr.May travels from Bombay to San Francisco with one piece of luggage in the baggage compartment. He changes airplanes in Ankara,Rome,NewYOrk, and Chicago
(a)If the luggage does not reach his destination with him, what is the probability that it was lost at Da Vinci airport in Rome?

Hey , i'm doing this chem prac , and i cant figure out the answer to this bonus question.

The prac im doing is basically about the Law Of Conservation of mass, by mixing Silver nitrate with Potassium Iodide to form Potassium Nitrate + Silver Iodide, weighing them before and after. (i understand the law of conservation of mass and everything, i got the same weights before and after)

But i cant work out the answer to this question:
When the flask containing the Silver nitrate with Potassium Iodide is placed on the weighing balance the moment the reaction started, it is noticed that the mass fluctuates and drops during the reaction process. Why does this happen? (state the reasoning behind and what is happening on atomic/intermolecular level)

I'm thinking it has something to do with atoms breaking rejoining and vibrating against each other, causing the mass to change? Can someone explain to mewhats happenin on an ATOMIC level, containing KEY TERMS and important details?? Thanks

When we talk about the result of a particular event, we only put forward our opinion on the possibility of the most probable result. But we are never exactly 100% sure on the occurrence of our opinion, are we? For example, if we agree with the statement, “A dog will NEVER be able to learn physics”, we are only posting our opinion on it, about which we are 99.95 % certain (say), but not 100% certain. In fact, I don’t think it will ever be possible for us to be absolutely 100% certain about the occurrence of a particular event, because the Theory of Everything, as it is (or rather, would be) called, which, if stated, would take care of ALL the Sciences, has not been formulated yet.

As another ‘physical’ example, we can also never be 100% sure when we say, “The velocity of this body is 43.784 m/s”; we can only be sure to a certain extent, say 99.998%, beyond which it is not possible to ascertain the velocity. And this is not because of experimental errors, or errors in measurement, etc; in fact, this is an inherent property of ANY event that we can never predict or measure it with exactly 100% accuracy. So, words like “exact, “precise”, absolute”, etc lose their significance in the realm of this thought & discussion. In that case, can we postulate a General Principle of Uncertainty, which would say, “It is impossible to determine the occurrence of any event with absolute certainty, unless it is a definition.” ? I use the word ‘definition’ ‘coz if we define an event, it has got to be 100% certain. For example, when we say, “A meter has 100 centimeters”, we are exactly 100% certain about its validity, as a meter is defined that way. But we are not 100% sure about the validity of the statement, “He has walked 100 meters today.”

Hope you understand what I mean? Any comment(s), criticism & correction (in case I’m wrong somewhere) are welcome.

* Evolution is a theory not a fact.
* creation is a logic fact.
* Evolution means developement & adaption.
* Evelution doesn't mean changing from one species to another.
* Every species got its unique cromosome number & DNA.
* If someone lose a hand or leg, the other hand will adapt to more skill to satisfy the needs of that person, which with a normal person , those skill are not found.
If a person is poor & without shoes, his heet's bottom will become thick & hard to resist the walking on the rough grounds.
If a person lose his vision or hearing, he will become more skillful in detecting the sound direction & reading the movement of lips & bodies. THIS IS WHAT THE ACUAL MEANING OF EVOLUTION WORD.
* Millions of live species have never changed, every one is engineered to its task ,eating, hunting & protecting itself.

* If u believe your origin is monkey, then do a DNA test, if it matches the monkey's then u r an animal, not a human .BUT IF NOT , THROW AWAY FROM UR MIND.

the thingey people wrote said that genetic engineering (splicing and switching/adding genes) was not allowed to be organic and cloning is NOT genetic engineering. cloning is another form of asexual reproduction. i dont know why the USDA doesn't approve of it. what's wrong with cloning? you can snip off a twig from a house plant, put it in water for a few days, and roots will form. you plant it on the ground and it grows up to be a genetically identical plant to wich it was dervived from. that is also cloning , which is NOT genetic engineering. what's so "unsafe" about cloned food? you could chop up a starfish and throw it back in the water and each piece will grow back into a whole starfish, not like it will have a disadvantage because it's cloned. so it's like saying, what's wrong with identical twins?
