Solve The following:

A farmer has several packages of fertilizer for his new grain crop. The old packages contain 50 pounds of long-term-growth supplements and 60 pounds of weed killer. The new pakcages contain 65 pounds of long-term-growth supplements and 45 pounds of weed killer. Using past experience, the farmer estimates that he needs 3125 pounds of long-term-growth supplement and 2925 pounds of weed killer for the fields. How many old packages of fertilizer and how many new packages of fertilizer should he use?

Can you show the system of 2 equations and explain it in detail?

I have come up with :

ADBEFGHIC = 6 different ways
ADEBFGHIC =5 different ways
ADEFBGHIC = 4 different ways
the pattern led me to 6! then the same would be if I switched A and B's position...

I came up with the answer 6!*6!

it feels like I'm missing something. Could you tell me if there is more work to the problem?

Thank you

Some 15-20 years ago there was a hoopla in the news about waterballs frequently strikng the earth. Fro this I inferred there were waterballs throughout the space of the universe. The waterballs were later said to be fluffy water balls. One account said pilots frequently see flashes of light in the stratosphere which were suspected to be these "balls" hitting the earth.

Assume a woman is pregnant. She has never gotten the chicken pox, but she does now that she is pregnant. The IgG antibodies are passed on from mother to child, i.e; you are born with some of your mother's antibodies to protect you while you are in the womb.

So, basically I want to know if a mother contracts chicken pox while pregnant, and thus creates antibodies, will the baby be immune to the chicken pox too??

Keep in mind that I am a beginner's immunology student and maybe I misunderstood the concept of maternal antibodies.

You're on a raft on a body of water. You are exactly 10 miles from shore, but you don't know in which direction and there is a thick fog that won't let you see the shore until you touch it.

You are able to maneuver the raft with precision, i.e. you can travel in straight lines, arcs of circles, etc. and exact distances. Which path will give you the smallest maximum distance that you will have to travel in order to find the shore?

Here is the problem. What is wrong with it and why?

For any real number x:
x2 − x2 = x2 − x2

2) Factoring both sides in two different ways:
(x − x)(x + x) = x(x − x)

3) Divide both sides by x - x:
(x-x)(x+x)/(x-x) = x(x-x)/(x-x)

4) Simplified, yields:
(1)(x + x) = x(1)
(x + x) = x

5) Which is:
2x = x

6) Since this is valid for any value of x, we can plug in x = 1:
2 = 1

For our physics class we have to make a tennis ball launcher and we are also responsible for doing calculations to predict the distance our launcher will be able to launch the tennis ball.

I have done the calculations here and can be seen in this PDF file:
http://imusion.net/backup/yahoo.pdf

The diagram of our launcher can be seen in here:

I have looked through it but I know it is wrong. For u = 0.5kx^2 which is the first equation, x is the distance we can stretch the bungee cord which is supposed to be 1.2m and not 1.2-0.955(0.955 being the "slack " length of the cord). The problem is if I use 1.2m for x and follow through with everything else I get a ridiculous number like 500m. Which I know is not right.

Just a short explanation of what else I did for the calcs. After I found the PE of our bungee cord I found the velocity then used projectile motion.

If anyone can look through what I did and see what I did wrong I would appreciate that.
