100,000=100,000 (10^4)
196=196 ( 14^2)
512=512 (2^9)
81=81 (9^2)

By "standard notation" I assume you mean "scientific" notation. That means there is only one digit to the left of the decimal point. You move the decimal to the right place and then indicate how many places you moved the decimal by using the number 10 raised to the proper power.

36 = 3.6 x 10(1)
100,000 = 1 x 10(5)
196 = 1.96 x 10(2)
512 = 5.12 x 10(2)
81 = 8.1 x 10(1)

100,000=10 to the fifth power
196=14 to the second power
512=8 to the third power
81=3 to the fourth power
