To re-phrase a question I asked before:

In my back yard, there are some steel bars embedded in concrete, from the foundations of an old out-house. I want to remove the steel, and leave the concrete intact.

I know I can cut off the steel, but I'm interested to know if I could (even theoretically) remove the steel bars intact, while only damaging the a small fraction of the concrete that immediately surrounds the steel.

Intuitively, it would seem that I could shake the bars out. Is this possible? Can anyone recommend any further reading on the subject (online resources preferred).

We'll assume the bars are not connected to any deeper structure.

It seems like a simple problem, but I can't stop thinking about it!

Does anyone know if there is an actual equation used to figure out a question like...

If a train leaves from New York traveling 65 miles an hour and a train from chicago leaves, going toward the other train at 72 miles an hour, where will they meet? Or how long or whatever?

I've heard this question a ton, and I was wondering if there wa sa certain equation that could figure it out.

This is a direct quote from the religion board;

"I have two questions for you:
If we all came from monkeys, why is there still monkeys on earth
and, why are we not evolving from monkeys now. instead we reproduce children within our own bodies, so why did we stop evolving from monkeys?"

Now I ask you, how is someone like myself, or anyone else who studies the Science of Evolution supposed to answer such an inane question?
No, really? How?
When dealing with someone so profoundly ignorant, how am I expected to dumb down the explanation to the point where this person can understand? I submit that it is impossible.
I mean honestly, look at the question!
Let me try and explain it to you. Humans (us) and monkeys (primates) all share a common ancestor. We did not evolve from apes or chimpanzees, they are related to us by common ancestry. That's why we share 99.983% of our DNA with them.
I hope this clears up some confusion and ignorance for some of you, though I doubt it.

I've looked through my book and also went in for help but this stuff isn't clicking with me. I already failed the class once, and would rather not do so again. I guess resorting to this shows that at least I care.

In advance, I'd like to thank anyone who takes the time to assist me. I appreciate it.

I'll use the letter v to symbolize a down arrow.

1) Use the properties of logarithms to rewrite this as a single logarithm.

4 logV10^x + 2 logV10^(x+3)

2) Solve for x

logV7^(x+3) - 2 = logV7^3

3) Solve for x

4^x-3 = 25

4) Approx to 2 decimal places

logV25^750

My theory of the Big Bang is this. For the Big Bang to actually have happened, there would have HAD to have been some sort of Energy behind it's happening correct? There absolutely had to be. My theory is that God was the energy behind that. I don't believe that the universe just appeared and all the planets were created on their own. What do you think about this?

What do blind people see?

If we shut our eyes we dont see nothing we see black as eyelids cover our vision. But what do they see or dont? One for thought but only a blind person who once could see can only answer this.

I'm guessing it's because the heat makes the moisture in the bread come to the surface, but why does it do that? And where is that moisture hiding before you toast the bread? The bread doesn't feel moist before you toast it, so where did the moisture come from? Is there some chemical reaction when you heat it that creates H2O? I'm just curious.
