Does anyone know how large organisations lobby parliament in the UK? Is there an standard route to doing this.

Please give a personal example of when an organisation you worked for or worked for had a successful campaign through lobbying.

As one or several states of the Union ? Think about it... the British have had their time to be influential as a nation and it is over. They can either be dominated by the French and Germans in the EU... or it could come full circle with them joining the country which once left theirs. Think about it:

- No more obsolete monarchy which does nothing anyway and smacks of discrimination(a Catholic can never ascend the British throne).
- No more forced metric measurements. You can drink a PINT of beer again, instead of 400 mL. Shouldn't the English use ENGLISH measurements, not ones the French made up ?
- You could once again be part of the most powerful ENGLISH speaking nation. And a British state as part of the US would be the most powerful state able to wield REAL power in US and world affairs.

doesn't it just seem to create more of a mess? Would it not just be better to leave other countries to their own determination?

I saw that for the House vote to support Israel, the only people to not support it, in a both democrat and republican supported resolution, were the people from Michigan. State with the highest Muslim population. They news said it was because they are doing this for their voting blocks? So their voting blocks, in Michigan, are terrorists? They support Hezbollah? They support Bin Laden and his people? My thinking if I live there, is really to wonder who we elected? You people are already screwed by letting organized crime..I mean labor , take over your jobs but you better get your heads out of the sand with this story. Anyone else see that?
