Hello,

I personally believe that this war and the others before it are like the modern day example of the longest war in history, what are your opinions on the matter?

Thankyou.

The crusaders were christians. So no it isnt. The current arab-israeli war is something else. Call it whatever you like but the arab world will always find a way to provoke attacks by israel because the truth is, they dont acknowledge or want israel's existence. Iran has helped escalate the situation with their open declaration of wiping Israel off the face of the world. They provide whatever hezbollox wants and encourage mayhem. Then the world criticises the west, specifically the US for supplying arms to the israelis completely forgetting that the russians and several european manufacturers (also China a main supplier) profiteering by selling to the other side. But they believe their hands are clean dont they. Everyone in the weapons industry has blood on their hands. Some go so far as to excuse their involvement with 'somebody has to do it, so we thought we would supply and we can guarantee its done properly..'

Israel needs to give back more land and acknowledge Palestine. The arabs MUST accept Israels right to exist. And the rest of the world stop being hypocrites.

The argument or basis for the question is tenuous at best. There is not an Arab Israeli war going on, because a portion of the Israeli population are Israeli Arabs, and it was one of their viallges that has just been flattened by a Hizbollah rocket attack.

To define this as an Arab Israeli confliuct is far too simplistic and misleading.

Also the classification of anyone (non jewish) who lives in the middle east as an Arab is also plainly wrong. The region is home to many diverse ethnic groups who have been there since biblical times and the further north and east you go the less prevalence there is of Arab tribes.

Many of the ethnic peoples of Lebanon are more southern european and ottoman in ethnicity than they are Arab.

As for the crusades, I'm afraid that is an overused politcal analogy used by people who want you to believe that George Bush is leading a war against Islam and there is no relevance to the Crusades here at all, except perhaps in reverse.

Israel has extra or a lot less received each warfare antagonistic to the Arabs 1948, 1956, 1967, 1973. It now occupies and controls all of Palestine. it may positively administration even extra of the middle east had international rigidity no longer reined them in. it is not an uncommon tale. once you've 2 multiple cultures both attempting to occupy a similar land, it typically does no longer workout consultation nicely for the technologically inferior one. seem at what exceeded off to the close by individuals. Settlers kept encroaching upon Indian territory or perhaps as the savages fought again, we despatched interior the cavalry to mow them down and bypass the survivors onto smaller and smaller reservations. only interior the colonies that ecu's did not settle drastically, did indigenous people ever be triumphant antagonistic to them.

**Edited for rimrocka**The crusades were a military expedition undertaken by European Christians in the 11th, 12th, and 13th centuries to recover the Holy Land from the Muslims.

Israelis are jewish...SOoo it is not an extension of the crusades.

Israel, belonged to the Jews prior to the muslims, The first 2 Jewish synagogues are in Israel. Check out this link and you will see what I am saying: Israel belojnged to the Jews LONG LONG before the Muslims were there. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Israel

So it doesn't seem to me that the muslims have a valid claim to the land. I think they were in disbelief when the Jews took it back, and frankly felt insulted and thats why they want it back so bad.

I disagree. The goings-on in Israel are not a continuation of one war, because I think that in the case of the conflict in Israel, it's become an issue of the land being worth more to either side than lives lost. Also, other modern wars have come about for different reasons. But kudos for an interesting topic.

At a very basic level,I think the crusades have a considerable influence on current troubles in the middle east.Like a lot of Brit's who have only received a basic education,a lot of my opinions were formed around childhood folklore, like Richard The Lionheart.
When I started working among Arabic people during the Iran,Palestine and Lebanon conflicts in the late 1970's,my bias was certainly very much in favour of the European Jewry of Israel. Not for any particular reason other than my prejudice against Arabs taught me by historical misinformation based on exagerated patriotism in favour of Christianity.Thankfully, through befriending arabs of various nationalities,I gradually took the trouble to discover, that like many other westerners,my partiality was based on misguided facts gained through popular culture and distorted historical information.I hope all the indigenous population of the middle east survive the current turmoil to prosper and live in peace.God knows they deserve it.

Your opinion is based entirely on propoganda that is biased against Israel. Israel has been seeking a 2 state solution with Palestinians all along. They refuse. Israel has no designs on expanding its borders into any neighboring country. They have honored the peace they have made with Egypt, Jordan and until recently Lebanon. Lebanon still has not either been able or willing to rid its southern region of the Hezbollah thugs that launch rockets into Israeli neighborhoods. Why should Israel stand idely by while it continues to get attacked from southern Lebanon? If Israel had designs on more territory it coulde easily take it from any of its neighbors. If Lebanon wants Israel out of its borders, it should secure itself and rid itself of Hezbollah, Israel will gladly leave and even assist Lebanon's new democracy any way it can.

Snowy writes: "Israel, per history, belonged to the Jews prior to the muslims, The first 2 Jewish synagogues are in Israel. So it doesn't seem to me that the muslims have a valid claim to the land"

ROFL you call that logic?

The jews had control of Israel 2000 years ago, by your logic if britain decided to invade America and take it back as its own they would be right in doing so.

Israel was founded in land which belonged to muslims. Britain, by supporting zionism (as in the Balfour Declaration) literally promised land which belonged to muslims to the jews.

Not just the crusades, it goes back to Abraham, and his legit son Issac and the other the son of the slave, Ismael. the begining of this war goes back thousands of years, read the old testiment.
Issac, the legit son vs Ismael, the illegit son and slave. Very sad.

No its more of a war from annhilation..the palestinians are not fighting for Islam but for the right to exist as humans...and in their struggles their ethics got blurred and they used more heinous methods...such as bombing bars...but that still doesn't come close to Israel bulldozing schools and children

NOT really , but it does encompass some of the feelings that people have about past wars and injustice.
