I mean really, aren't they just the coolest? So brave and powerful... Watch some of these videos and ask yourself how anyone could possibly think that there is such a thing as negotiating with these swine.

According to this recent story http://marketplace.publicradio.org/shows/2006/09/06/PM200609061.html, private investigators were able to examine the phone records of HP board members (apparently without their permission).

The thrust of the story seems to be that you can get someone else's phone records if you know their social security number.

It that's true, I'd like to know what recourse we have to prevent it happening to us!

Does anyone else feel afraid about this loss of privacy, and if so, what should be done about it?

The story implies the investigator's actions were illegal, yet I don't see any recourse for the victims of the snooping.

I mean Natascha Kampusch, an 18 year old girl from Austria who was kidnapped 10 years ago and kept in a basement for 10 years until she escaped a few weeks ago.

She just seems too normal to me. Considering she hasn't been to school in 10 years and she's only ever had contact with her captor, don't you think she should be a lot more messed up than she actually is? Shouldn't she be scared of all this media attention and everything? What's going on? Is she just an amazingly strong person, or do you think she'll eventually crack and lose it or something?

On a TV documentary, I heard a NYC firefighter say he thinks about 9/11 every day (also at 3:43 for the 343 firefighters lost and for other reasons). But, he was there. I do the same, but I didn't lose anyone close to me that day. I don't think I know someone who did. I only know three people who lived in the cities affected on that day. Is it strange for that date to occur in my mind like this?

Record Fuel, oil, electricity, and natural gas prices?
Are you going to keep voting for the guys that just gave big oil these incentives? Incentives for what? To bend us over?

Just recently, a very large amount of oil was discovered in the Gulf of Mexico, equal to about half of all oil currently thought to be available under U.S. soil and territories.

The technique used to tap this reserve sunk a drill in over a mile deep ocean and then drilled another 4 miles into the bedrock.

If some company can drill in an ocean a mile deep and bore in four more miles, then oil drillers can reach oil almost anywhere.

How much of the Atlantic and Pacific have been drilled?

There must be so much damn undrilled oil available to the world that there really was no oil shortage at all, only a fear of shortage.

What do you think? What about Iraq?

I asked the question yesterday " Will Steve Irwin be giving interviews in heaven?" simply because I noticed his name was an anagram of interviews. The usual crowd of weepy women and children then showed their silliness by branding me insensitive and so on. I hit back by additional comments and have thus received my violation. Funnily enough even though I pointed out I had noticed something about his name not one of the harpies who replied noticed it. I rest my case.
