http://uk.news.yahoo.com/pressass/20071110/tuk-blunkett-attacks-pupil-fines-plan-6323e80_2.html

Former Education Secretary David Blunkett has ridiculed proposals to fine teenagers who fail to stay in education or training until the age of 18.
A new Education and Skills Bill, confirmed in the Queen's Speech on Tuesday, will require children to stay in education until the age of 18.
Teenagers who refuse to stay on face spot fines of £50 or court fines of £200. Parents could also be fined.
"I'm against the idea... that deeply damaged young men and women could somehow be fined and it would make them go into education or training. I think it's cloud-cuckoo land," Mr Blunkett told BBC Radio 4's Any Questions.
Mr Blunkett, who was education secretary from 1997 to 2001, said he agreed that education or training should continue to the age of 18 but said fines for those who do not comply would be misguided.

do you like this idea???

Sub-standard teachers should be removed from schools to make way for better colleagues, a key government education adviser has suggested.
Sir Cyril Taylor said there were about 17,000 "poor" teachers in England.
They were unable to control classes and were damaging the education of about 400,000 children, he told the BBC.
But head teachers said it was sometimes difficult to recruit good staff, while teachers said their job was made harder by issues such as paperwork.

do you agree that "poor" teachers should be sacked, who will teach the classes without them, do we have any "good teachers"

The 22-year-old McLaren driver, from Stevenage in Herts, previously cited privacy as his reason for leaving.
But he admitted on television chat show Parkinson that tax was an issue as well as the photographers pursuing him.

Subject: your deleted question..

Message: Dear TruthSeeker. I've had the same thing happen to me. I was emailed by someone who told me that a good number of the controversial questions are posted by Yahoo employees just to stir things up. These types of questions are usually posted in areas where religious/gay/lesbian/govt/immigration issues are discussed. Anything liberal is allowed to stand and anything conservative is bleeped out. I am beginning to think that someone very high up/hidden is using this forum to gauge or swing public opinion. I once spoke for 15 minutes at my local city council meeting when they tried to pass a resolution to condemn the immigration raids of last year. I'll tell you which side I spoke for if you email me, but I had 6 T.V. cameras in my face, which included 3 hispanic international networks (I am hispanic). When the 11 P.M. news came around, I took to flipping channels, and I didn't appear for one second...So, tell me, is there free speech? I hope to hear from you..Fernando..

They will be using previously classified documents to discuss many well-documented cases. It will be moderated by Fife Symington, Former Arizona Governor, serving during the famous Phoenix lights a few years ago. The number and credentials of the panelists is impressive too...former high-ranking government, aviation, and military officials from seven countries to discuss close encounters with UFOs. Representatives from France, England, Belgium, Chile, Peru, Iran and the US will call for the US Government to join in an international dialogue and re-open its investigation – which the Air Force shut down over 30 years ago – in cooperation with other governments currently dealing UFO phenomena. While on active duty, the panelists have either witnessed a UFO incident or have conducted an official investigation into UFO cases relevant to aviation safety and national security.

I'd love to see this live. Anyone know if it is being televised or covered on the Internet?

This is not a partisan question because I don't like Democrats or Republicans. In my opinion, all of them seem to be selling us down the river. I live a thousand miles away from NYC, and Giuliani never caught my attention on that awful day of death and grief. I really need to understand what it was that made Rudy so heroic, as many claim, on that day. Just exactly what did he do that was so far beyond the ordinary call of duty?

As an Englishman and owner of many US based companies I really must ask this.I am a great drinker, usually downing 20+ pints of Stella strong lager every night, but as I stagger home i usually feel a little sick.In my opinion there is nothing worse than seeing puke in the streets the morning after, so I tend to puke into people gardens.Recently i have taken this a little further and I now have a trail of plant pots in people gardens that i have puked in.
I think I am being responsible for not making a mess
