We can't simply pull troops out and expect the fighting to end and they're not going to become our friends just because we leave. If the plan is to pull our troops home and let the folks in the middle east kill each other just remember, that strategy will dramatically expand the war and the number of players involved. We will have no say or control over how the war is fought, what losses are acceptable, or even when it's time to consider bringing it to some type of conclusion. Also consider the position of the victors and what their relationship with us might be, and how it might then change. Another important point to remember is that the Left, Democrats, are actually Socialist Globalist. They will not support anything which is not supported by the world community, the UN and EU, and International Courts. They have no concerns over US national security and would allow world opinion to decide what we are allowed to do to protect our interest. Even their most likely candidate, Hillary Clinton, served her internship working in the office for the President of the Communist Party here in the US. What does that tell you of the aspirations of a young corporate law student that now claims to represent the interest of "common" people?

According to the Republicans, there is not a civil war and won't be a civil war if we leave. That's the problem...they won't admit the civil war exsists. What the left really want to know is how long is America going to have to PAY for this war. Sure some of them want to bring troops home, but who doesn't? It seems as if the Republicans are alright with the fact that this war has no plan to end. That is costing this country money no matter how you spin it. About peace...there is a way to not have war. If we really really try to concentrate efforts on peace and not war then why not? We assume that war is the only way because of the hippies and idiots that speak for it. The problem we face is that we made deals with the devil and agreed to help and trade with other countries and they screwed us. So in return we kill them and the terrorists that they are. It's not like we didn't know they were terrorists right? We knew that when we got in the middle of their oil deals and agreed to protect them and in return get oil for this country. Both parties are guilty of that.

They haven't thought things through.
Most of those who oppose US involvement in Iraq are not ideological pacifists; they would fight if they thought they needed to. They think that if we leave the enemy alone, he won't be our enemy anymore.
Would they take that approach in their own neighborhoods? If a stalker were threatening them, would they just ignore him and hope he loses interest, or be nice to him and expect him to go away? If somebody broke into their home, would they ignore it? Of course not. They can see the threat easily enough.
Most of us don't want to fight if we can reasonably avoid it. That's common sense. But it's also common sense that we should deal with a problem in a timely manner, as we are trying to in Iraq.
