I think that everyone should put their modern , fast and selfish lifestyles 'on hold' for an hour tomorrow morning to watch the annual day of remembrance on the BBC. Forget the Xmas shopping. "Lest we forget"

We watched the remembrance service last night. Today we are taking our children (8 &9) to see the parade in the city centre so they can experience it for themselves.
We have watched it every year but this year they are able to truly understand the importance of this festival.
They have chosen toand made their own "wreath" by drawing/colouring loads of poppies and sticking them on card. We will let them lay this before the parade if they are allowed.

Xmas shopping? Good God, that's for December.
And yes, I will be remembering - but i will not be watching the ridiculously lavish BBC ceremonies funded by us tax-payers. The money would be better utilised helping the veterans in older life.

As a matter of fact no. I will have been to church for an earlier service in which a small act of remembrance will take place. Even if it does not I will honour the silence.

I watch it every year and agree with you. Oh never mind the Xmas Shopping my birthday hasn't arrived yet then I start thinking about Xmas!!

I normally attend the service at my local war memorial, my dad was a soldier so it's important to me. But my son has a rugby match tomorrow kicking off at 11.05am so I will be there instead, we will all be observing the 2 minute silence though.
