Six years ago, 189 world leaders sat down and agreed to end poverty and achieve the Millennium Development Goals by 2015. On October 15&16, people across the world will stand up to remind them of this promise.

What is Stand Up?
Launched by United Nations Millennium Campaign [ http://www.standagainstpoverty.org/about/mc ] , STAND UP is an exciting challenge to set an official Guinness World Record for the greatest number of people ever to Stand Up Against Poverty and for the Millennium Development Goals [ http://www.standagainstpoverty.org/about/mdg ]

On October 15&16, the world will come together and STAND UP and remind their governments that promises to achieve the Millennium Development Goals and help the billions living in extreme poverty, must be kept.

The purpose of the action is to raise awareness of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) and to publicly demonstrate to policy makers the growing global support for the eradication of poverty.

STAND UP is an initiative designed to coincide with Global Call to Action Against Poverty (GCAP) month of global mobilizations [ http://www.whiteband.org/ ] around the International Day for the Eradication of Poverty. We need everyone to take part to ensure governments listen and take action.

Stand Up because:

- Every day 24,000 people die from hunger
- Every day more than 100 million children are denied the chance to go to school
- Every day 1.1 billion people have to drink polluted water
- Every day 8,200 people die due to HIV/AIDS
- Half the world, nearly 3 billion people, live on 2 dollars a day
- Every 3 seconds somewhere in the world, a child dies from poverty
- World leaders promised to end this by 2015

President Bush unapologetically defended his approach to North Korea's nuclear weapons program Wednesday, pledging he would not change course despite contentions that Pyongyang's apparent atomic test proved the failure of his nearly six years of effort. Bush rejected the idea of direct U.S.-North Korea talks, saying the Koreans were more likely to listen if confronted with the combined protest of many nations.

She lives in a Northeastern State. Do you think those people in Barstow, California are probably asking the same question.

Now that a Yankees pitcher has flown a plane into a high-rise building in New York, will George Bush call this an act of terror and launch a war on terror against the New York Yankees?

George Bush said the US went to war in Iraq because Saddam Hussein might possibly maybe could be trying to make nookyuler* weapons. Saddam said that no, he did not have any. George Bush said yes he did. So, the US invaded Iraq and never found any. Now, North Korea says it has nookyuler bombs, waves them in Bush's face, and even blew one up, yet George Bush cowers in a corner and says we will not invade North Korea, no, no, no we will not, even though North Korea really does indeed have nookyuler weapons. What is wrong here? Why was George Bush in such a hurry to invade Iraq on a fake made-up excuse but will not go anywhere near North Korea which really IS launching missiles and blowing up nookyuler bombs? Can anyone else see the hypocrisy and inconsistency here? What's going on?

I might be dumb and stupid, and people might call me a moron, but this does not make sense even to me.

*"nookyuler" is the term used by Bush

I just cant stand this entire thing that has started against Muslims especially the plea for the women to remove there vails its not fair that we should try and tell them how to dress the fact is that allot of people want to wear it so y not let them.
ever since sep 11 Muslims have come under fire and i think it might just get out of control.
someone said we should be able to tell them what to ware since they r in England but the fact is when we go to there countries to visit or live whatever the case they don’t tell us to dress like they do.
another thing that i noticed is that the media whenever reporting on a case which some that’s Muslim is involved always mentions there religion its not like the other religions never do anything wrong they r human just like anyone else religion should spread happiness but what its doing in this case is spread hate.
Remember say no to prejudice and discrimination.
