I heard about Ian Huntley's suicide attempt today and thought, well if he wants to kill himself it would save we taxpayers having to pay for his residence in prison. Shouldn't we just let people like that get on with it if they want to die - they presumably can't live with themselves because of the bad things they have done?

Talking about drug users and people from disadvantaged backgrounds in a way to put this part of our society down in a way to say they are not as good as some others, i here this a lots and i think its wrong what do others think.
Is'nt it societys fault that these people have disadvantages so end up taking drugs or getting involved in crime?

people have been posting comments like he deserved it and he tormented animals.these people have the facts wrong and should not pay attention too much to the media with there blowing incidents out of proportion.he cared very much about animals and the environment and mostly his family.cruel comments are hurtful to his family that must be really suffering.get your facts straight and have some respect.

Ok, my first thought (and since then a lot of people have said something similar) was I wonder how much Steve Irwins insurance was each year and how much he would get on death.

I can see how insurers would try and charge him loads (high risk job after all), but then if anyone can be near a snake/crocodile without dying it would have been him (as he was so experienced and well trained) so maybe it wouldn't have been too much.

I presume he prepared for the worst, but do dangerous animal handlers pay through the nose for insurance?

I'd like to know that his kids/wife will now be millionaires as a small comfort.

What is it with the repairs after Katrina, one year on? Some areas reportedly look the same as they did immediately after the disaster.
