I don't think anyone could replace him. Steve Irwin - aka "The Crocodile Hunter"
He was daring, adventurous, bold, confident, devoted, determined, "cheeky", committed, a truly amazing Aussie icon extraordinaire.
His passion for animals deserves true recognition -
He was truly a wonderful person who was sure to entertain other's with his sense of humor and his actions that would have us all in suspense.
When you think australian, indeed, he is the first person you'd imagine as a 'metaphor' in a sense, of Australia.

Steve Irwin inspired me to take risks, to take a chance, a whack at something you anticipated you probably wouldn't or couldn't do. All the adjectives that exist in the english language wouldn't be enough to describe someone like him. So individualistic, so real.

I am going to miss him. I'm sure all of us will.

God bless x x

No one will ever TAKE HIS PLACE. There might be a lot of other people out there who work with animals, but not the same as Mr. Irwin...so the first moronic answer. Jeff C. will not take his place. He never did when Steve was alive. It's sad to see he is dead, but at least he died doing something he loved the most, and that's working with animals. And it was pretty much instantly so he wasn't in pain...and didn't suffer a long agonizing death.

It is very sad to see Steve go so quick. I know i will miss his charisma and attitude toward wildlife and conservation. The closest person that i can think of is Nigel Marvin. I seen a couple of his shows on discovery channel.
We must remember the death of a person like Steve Irwin. His purpose on earth was to teach us that life is precious and that it can be taken away from us in an instant.

He was very entertaining, with lots of enthusiam and a great passion for what he did. He loved animals of all kinds. He also cared a great deal about educating the world not only about the different animals but also the dangers each animal species faced in the wild. He wanted to help preserve endangered species.

Mini biography
Steve Irwin was born in 1962 to parents Lyn and Bob Irwin, who were animal naturalists. He has shared the love for animals all his life, stemming from being raised at the Queensland Reptile and Fauna Park. There, he partook in daily duties of animal feeding and care. He quickly established himself with the Queenland's government on the process of the country's Crocodile Relocation Program, in which the reptiles could be transferred and relocated to proper localties in the most absolute humane, non-tranquilizing manner. He frequently implements the non-tranquilizing factor in his televison show "Croc Files" (1999). To date, Steve can claim that he has never been bitten by a venomous snake, despite his bare-hand handling of some of the most deadliest snakes in the world. Steve has been married to fellow naturalist, Terri Irwin (Baines) since 1992. She joins him in his adventures and efforts in almost every episode of his show. They have one daughter Bindi Sue Irwin who was born July 24, 1998.

I believe everyone has heard by now this most horrible news of the loss of the Crocodile Hunter...
He was a great man and husband and father...
He was so devoted to his family and his friends...
He was such a likeable guy and I will be mourning his loss for some time...
I do not see how he can be replaced...

No one, no one at all.
Someone mentioned Jeff Corwin..Jeff Corwin, well is Jeff Corwin..he does his own thing.
I had to have this conversation with my broken hearted 12 yr old yesterday.
No one will take his place.
But luckily we still have Jeff Corwin and Jack Hanna and others to keep the dream alive and educate us.

You will be missed Steve
God Bless

i will never forget the image of steve irwin talking to the camera while sharks were in a feeding frenzy all around him while he stood in the water...the guy was a crazy kook but he was fascinating, funny and very entertaining...i kind of felt one day his luck would run out the way he took risks dealing with wildlife but i would never have guessed it would take a stingray to be the culprit....my condolences to his friends and family....he was one of a kind and his legacy will continue as his shows run on animal planet
