If you watched your local news (not CNN or Fox News) but your area's local News channel...i was wondering...What was your top story this evening?

This would be good to see if we are all on the same page when it comes to news. We will compare if the news was positive or negative. Was it a local story or a worlwide story. Was it a sports story or health or crime, etc...

let the local news top stories begin...

I was listening to an Israel radio station over the net and they were saying that there were multiple suicide bombers that tried to enter from the Gaza Strip and blow themselves up on buses, in crowded areas, etc. etc. but those attempts failed.

Impressive that Israel is now able to spot and stop those senseless cowards before they do that...but what gets me is that none of my local news channels covered this, either did radio news, newspapers nor CNN or FoxNews which i constantly watch during the day while working.

You would think Israel would love to say, "See! look...just another reason why these guys ARE TERRORISTS!"

...maybe this is Israel attempt not to make it public, in an effort to stop other copycats who would like to follow or gain notoriaty as a suicide bomber....i dunno....

Has anyone else out there heard of this recent activity in your area?

Has anyone gotten these creepy phone calls of people asking for your social security number, other phone #, etc.
These people aren't even good at conning, they are really rude and demanding. The least they could do is act natural.

These illicit callings are really annoying, do they have anything better to do.
It is a gamble for them, telling them they want to speak to my brother, saying he owes money, when I don't have one...
They call asking for money and stuff.
You know it's fake because when you ask for their number they avoid it, and insist on yours.
Ahhhhhh, what do I do, without going through all the trouble...
Hope I'm not the only one...
Thanks in advance... ^_^

I figured since we are in the middle of a war in Afghanistan and Iraq and now Israel is involved with Hezbollah/Lebanon which we supply with weapons and they are allies.

...i was wondering if we could discuss positive things about war.
The obvious ones that come to me right now are only:

1. Technology fields get a boost. (aircrafts, military vehicles, laser guided weaponry, etc)

2. Defense contractors. More $$ will be spent on our homeland to beef up security, someone is getting paid for this.

3. Reconstruction. More jobs for people and contractors...someone will have to go and rebuild Iraq and Beirut after the bombs stop falling.

....now i know WAR is bad and people die...but people also profit and new jobs are devloped. I just wanna go over what these new jobs will be. Who will profit more. And if you are investing in time of war...what are some good stocks to buy right now? Oil stocks? military suppliers? etc

I keep hearing US news presenters referring to "I-Rock." Where is this place? There seems to be a lot of fighting there. Is it anywhere near Iraq?

That is the amount of money Exxon Mobile earns every minute in profits alone. Bp earns $55,000 a minute. Don't you think it is a crime these people are committing by earning more than ever before, at a time when most people are having a hard time filling their cars at the pump? I think it is a crime and they should pay for it. How can we make them pay?

Why do I hear so many people say "she needs to get help" or "they should prosecute the husband"? I hate to break it to you, but SHE did it all on her own. I don't care what my husband, family, friends, church, etc. did or did not do, I would NEVER hurt my children. There are plenty of single mothers out there. Do you see them murdering babies? There are plenty of woman out there who have it way worse than she did, and they don't murder their children in cold blood! And, she doesn't deserve help. She deserves to be beaten to death!
So, My question is, Why do so many people feel the need to defend her "illness"? And, Why do they feel the need to place blame elsewhere?
