some of the steps creak when stepped on. I can't get at the reverse side of the stair without tearing off the plaster finish.

I've recently bought a Venus Flytrap, and Sundew and a Pitcher plant. I'm going to put the Sundew and Pitcher by my pond (lots of annoying buzzing insects to chomp on) and was thinking of having the Flytrap in the kitchen.

Assuming that I don't get a lot of flys in the kitchen, how often should I be thinking of feeding the Flytrap? I already have a source of suitable food (wax worms over the internet).

And how often should the other 2 be feeding to be healthy (assuming everything else is ok)?

We have only lived here for 4 months and we've had some work done on the house (electric and new windows). There is an odd smell in the house for the last month or two now. It honestly smells like something died. It is not just in one room either. Is it possible for something to be in the ductwork or in the central air unit outside and spreading the smell through the whole house (even in our finished basement)? Last night I had the blower on, but the central air off and the smell was really awful this morning. Any suggestions on what could be causing this or how to find the source of the odor?

I've got 23 frozen meatballs, a jar of lingonberry jam, 2 Billy bookshelves, a couch, pillowcases, and a bathroom scale that doesn't work. Should I be considered a Swedish taxpayer?
What's your tally?

I have a fixed (ie no hinges) window seat 9ft x 2ft, that goes from wall to wall (all 3 surrounding walls are of cedar timber panelling).

The obvious way to upholster it would be to remove the lid, place foam on top and staple the material underneath it....but I cannot remove the lid as its been screwed on in a hundred places (I know because I watched the carpenter make it) and the lid is comprised of 2 x 12" wide planks.

I'm am unsure of how (or where) to staple the material to...eg on the wall panelling or on the lid? The lid does have a 1" lip, so I can staple under that to finish it off neatly. Do I start at the front, sides or back of the window seat?

And.....would it be better off longterm to go for leather, velvet (velour) or some other material....as its exposed to light most of the day but not direct sunlight? I'm not keen on cotton, fake leather or patterns.

If we have an upholsterer on board, I'd appreciate the input. Cheers, Tracy!

It's plugged in and everything because the light is on, and it seems to be making its usual whirring noise... But the stuff in the fridge (and the freezer) is getting less and less cold. Is there like a filter or something on the back of the fridge that I should check? I have no idea what to do -- I don't want to buy a new fridge or anything!

I bought a new house with a huge yard, we are currently in the middle of a drought. I can only run one hose at a time b/c there is not even enough pressure to make the sprinkler rotate itself?

Is there a cheap way I can do it myself?

Thanks in advance.

I have Banana Peppers and Jalapenio's in my garden for the first time ever. I placed a thick layer of compost down on top of the soil once they were planted. The compost consisted of 3-4 year old grass clippings. I also fertilized with a 3-stage fertilizer per the recommended amount. The leaves are starting to turn yellow on the LOWER part of the plant and falling off. HELP?
